Single new virus fatality reported today in Mahoning Valley

Just one COVID-19 death was reported today in the Mahoning Valley today — a 65-year-old woman who’s death date was April 30 but was just today confirmed to the coronavirus toll, according to the Columbiana County Health District.

There were no new deaths reported today in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Overall, there are have been 273 COVID-19 deaths in Valley — 173 in Mahoning, 47 in Trumbull and 53 in Columbiana counties.

There have been 2,098 COVID-19 deaths in the state as of today, up from 2,044 Wednesday.

There have been 33,915 confirmed cases of the virus in Ohio as of today, up from 33,439 Wednesday. Of those, there have been 1,425 cases confirmed in Mahoning County, up from 1,393 Wednesday; 551 cases in Trumbull County, up from 546 Wednesday; and 687 confirmed cases in Columbiana County, up from 682 a day earlier.

Statewide, 5,811 people have been hospitalized as of today because of the virus, up from 5,700 Wednesday. Of those, 1,516 people have been in intensive-care units as of today, up from 1,492 Wednesday.
