State adds nearly 4,000 COVID-19 cases

The Ohio Department of Health reported 3,963 new COVID-19 cases this weekend, bringing the state total since the pandemic began to 1,211,895. The health department also reported 34 new hospitalizations, bringing that total to 65,349, Health officials also reported 6,055,514 Ohioans — 51.80 percent of the state’s population — have started the vaccination process, an increase of 8,032 from the previous day. State reports sharp jump in numbers

The number of COVID-19 cases in Ohio has increased by almost 13 times the amount in six weeks and continues to be on the rise. The state was at 338.1 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents for the period between Aug. 12 and Wednesday, according to statistics provided Thursday by the Ohio Department of Health. 2 Mahoning County care facilities see spike in cases

Two Mahoning County long-term care facilities saw a spike in COVID-19 cases this week. The Inn at Walker Way assisted-living facility, 8060 South Ave., Boardman, saw the biggest jump. It has had 10 patient cases and five staff cases this week. The Marian Living assisted-living facility at 9800 Market St., North Lima, has six patient cases this week and no staff cases.
