AAUW TO MEET: American Association of University Women (AAUW) Youngstown will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Park Vista North Building with parking in the rear of the building. Speaker will be Dr. Nicolette Powe, associate professor at YSU, presenting “Bridging Health and Education: Advancing Equity for Women and Girls Through Community Engagement.”

GIANT PUMPKINS: The Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers are hosting a free “How to Grow Giant Pumpkins” seminar for beginners 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Parks Garden Center, 9010 Youngstown-Salem Road, Canfield. The seminar will be led by Tim Parks.
This information-packed class will cover site selection, soil health and biology, patch layout, fertility options, management of disease and insect pests, irrigation, mulching, and pruning of vines.

POSTSCRIPT SHOW: The Davis Family YMCA will host an opening reception for its new art show, PostScript, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the McClurg Road facility.
Thirty-eight area artists submitted seventy pieces of art into the juried show. Additionally, 30 postcard-size pieces and eight larger pieces of original art were donated to raise money for the Y’s ARTreach program.
The show, which runs from Sunday through Feb.28, is free and open to the community. Light refreshments will be served at the reception, and an awards ceremony will take place during the opening event.

POOL PARTY: Camp JCC will host an open house and pool party 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane. Participants will have the opportunity to swim as well as learn more about Camp JCC. All families who attend will receive a $36 credit towards Camp JCC for each camper in attendance. Families that pay their registration fee during the open house will be entered for a chance to win 10 free weeks of camp. There is also an early bird discount of $25 off camp fees if registering before March 31.
Camp JCC is for youth in grades kindergarten through 8. Camp will be Monday through Friday from June 2 through Aug. 8. A two week specialty theater camp will begin July 7. OPEN HOUSE: Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration will present its annual open house 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Students interested in a business degree with majors in accounting, business administration, business analytics and economics, finance, human resource management, supply chain management, management or marketing are welcome to attend.
The WCBA Open House will include sessions on academic majors, leadership activities, career opportunities and professional development experiences. Lunch will be provided, as well as an optional tour.

LWVGY HALL OF FAME: The League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown (LWVGY) has announced Jan. 31 as the deadline for nominations for its Hall of Fame honorees for 2025.
The League is looking for women who have made significant, ongoing contributions to the Mahoning Valley that are aligned with the League’s mission.
In addition to recognizing the 2025 honorees, the group will present the Distinguished Service Award to guest and former Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor for her outstanding leadership in the “Citizens Not Politicians Campaign.”

The LWVGY 2025 Hall of Fame celebration dinner will be March 27 at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. Registration begins at 5 p.m.
RADIO ASSOCIATION: The Warren Area Radio Association will host a winter field day event Saturday and Sunday at Stevens Park, Hogarth Avenue, Niles. The event will be at the cabin by the tennis courts for 30 hours starting 11 a.m. Saturday through 5 p.m. Sunday. The public is welcome to come and operate with the radio operators and other licensed ham radio operators. The event is part of American Relay League winter field day. The radio operators will have a trailer with a tower on it set up at the park. The trailer used to be for mobile cellular deployments.
BOOK CLUB: The Cozy Mystery Book Club will meet noon Wednesday at the Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St. New members are always welcome. NEWCOMERS TO MEET: Newcomers of Mahoning Valley will be having their next luncheon 11:30 a.m. today at the Golden Rye on state Route 170 in New Middletown. The program will be a surprise. SOCIETY PROGRAM: The Audubon Society Mahoning Valley will host its monthly program at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Austintown Senior Center. Free and open to everyone, a social time starts at 6:30. This month’s topic is Skulls Tell All with Stephanie Hughes, a retired teacher and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist, who will discuss Ohio mammal skulls and bring along skulls and pelts for people to see and feel.
CROP AND CRAFT FEST: Registration is now open for the Friends of the Library Canfield Committee’s Crop & Craft Fest 2025. This daylong retreat offers scrapbookers, card makers and crafters the opportunity to spend undivided attention on their hobbies.
The fundraiser will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Canfield Library, 43 W. Main St., Canfield. Lunch, beverages and snacks will be provided. A swap table and door prizes round out the event. All types of handiwork are welcome.

TQGIBT TO MEET: That Quilt Group I Belong To invites the public to attend its next meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Rotary Building at Fair Park in Canfield.
This guild of quilters meets the third Tuesday of each month and welcomes quilters of all skill levels, from beginner to expert. Doors usually open at 6:30 p.m.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION: A free program on historical preservation will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Room 205 on the second floor at the Youngstown Mahoning County Main Library, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Presenter is local historian Steffon Jones who will discuss the new discovery of Oakhill Cemetery of Penelope Richards who was a Civil War nurse. Her husband was Henry Richards. They are both buried at Oakhill Cemetery.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING: FreeThree, an organization working to save victims of human trafficking, is hosting an awareness event 10 a.m. Saturday at New Life Church, 2250 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland. Local survivors will speak about their experiences.
ABWA MEETING: The Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) will hold its Jan. 14 meeting at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Networking will begin 6 p.m. with dinner 6:30. H.O.P.E. NOMINEES SOUGHT: The deadline to submit nominations for the H.O.P.E. honoree recipients for 2025 will be Wednesday.
The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is looking for nominees who are Honorable, Outstanding, Philanthropic and Excellent (HOPE). These are honorees who have gone above and beyond to help or assist others in the Valley. The H.O.P.E. honorees will be recognized, and the H.O.P.E.
