COFFEE AND CONVERSATION: Youngstown Councilwoman Anita Davis, D-6th Ward, will host a Coffee and Conversation 10 a.m. to noon today at Flambeau’s Restaurant, 2308 Market St. Discussion will be on new community police officer Kylie Simmons and American Rescue Plan funding. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley will have a booth at the Canfield Fair Aug. 31 to Sept. 5. Volunteers are needed to staff the DSAV booth in the Medical Health Building during the fair. Volunteers will receive a free admission ticket to the fair on the day they volunteer. Two volunteers are needed per shift. Volunteers will ask interested visitors to sign the inclusion banner, invite them to win a prize with “Spin & Win” wheel and hand out DSAV information. Shift times are 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m. This is also an opportunity for DSAV families and high school students needing volunteer hours. Email office@dsav.org with any questions.

REVERSE RAFFLE: Boardman Gridiron Club’s 24th annual Reverse Raffle will be 7 p.m. Friday at the Youngstown Shrine Club Pavilion, 1735 S. Rand Road. Total cash prizes are $3,000, including a grand prize of $1,500 in cash. Winners need not be present. Also included will be a silent auction and a Chinese auction.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: The Mahoning County District of St. Vincent De Paul and Christ Dwelling Place Ministry are holding a community outreach from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at 3048 Gerwig Ave., Youngstown. The purpose of the outreach is to help feed and provide essential items to the most vulnerable in the community. IRISH FESTIVAL: The inaugural Mahoning Valley Irish Festival will be Friday and Saturday at Community Alley and Wean Park in downtown Youngstown. Funds raised will benefit local organizations as well as the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society. The festival will offer crafts, vendors, food, music, a basket raffle and other activities. CAR AND BIKE SHOW: Armstrong is proud to team with The American Heart Association to bring the 10th Annual Street Scene Car & Custom Bike Show today, at Austintown Park, 6000 Kirk Road in Austintown. Registration to enter a car, truck or motorcycle is $10, spectators are free and every penny goes to The American Heart Association. Registration is 10 a.m. to noon, and the show is from noon to 3:30 p.m.

The Street Scene Car & Custom Bike Show will have Youngstown’s Vegas Band playing live from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., DJ Thomas John taking over spinning the tunes and announcing door prize winners during the afternoon. The show also features tons of door prizes and raffle items.

Molnar’s Concessions serves the food plus One Hot Cookie with desserts and many more vendors.

Not only is this a car and motorcycle show, Street Scene TV host Rick Gurrera and co-host Krysta Sylvester will be recording a special episode of the Armstrong Neighborhood Channel Street Scene Show featuring many of people’s rides.

CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP: Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road, Canfield, will host a Cub Scout Day Camp from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the camp. The theme this year is Weird Science, and the Scouts will get the opportunity to experience all kinds of things involving weird science through activities.

The Great Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America serving Scouting families in Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Summit, Trumbull, and northern Wayne counties in Ohio, will attend.

Youth in grades kindergarten to fourth in the Cub Scouting program will have the opportunities to learn, test, experience and have fun with many weird science activities.

POST 51 TO MEET: The Hubbard American Legion Post 51 will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today in the social hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 22 Westview Ave. Special guest speaker will be Capt. Nick Hendrix of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Refreshments will be provided.

NIGHT MARKET: The B&O Night Market, hosted by B&O Station and Boxcar Lounge, 534 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, has returned this year in partnership with Youngstown CityScape. The Night Market will help to provide access to local foods and artisan made products. The market is from 4 to 8 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month through September, and is SNAP eligible and working to become a produce perks location to further expand access to healthy locally grown food. THIRD FRIDAY FUN: The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce and Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon will host 3rd Fridays in downtown Lisbon 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with Gary Shreve performing an Elvis tribute at the gazebo, live music, food trucks, vendors and free face painting. MOUNT CARMEL FESTIVAL: The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday to July 24 at the church grounds, 343 Via Mount Carmel Avenue in Youngstown. There will be food vendors, crafts, games and entertainment.

SENIOR WATCH PROGRAM: The Liberty Township Senior Watch Program is inviting Liberty seniors ages 60 and older to an open house 11 a.m. Wednesday at the township administration building. Pizza and refreshments will be served. Different agencies will attend to provide information for older residents. SPACE CAMP: The Ohio State University Extension will hold a Space Camp for Kids, “Blast Off,” with 4-H at the Cloverbud Day Camp at the Mahoning County OSU Extension office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday for ages 5 to 8. 4-H membership is not required. Campers will experience space through hands-on STEM activities. COLLECTION EFFORT: A food and toiletries drive to benefit the Youngstown City School District is being held through July 26 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at the Mahoning County 4-H and OSU Extension Mahoning County, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. The event organized by the 4-H will get food for the Youngstown school pantries. Various canned goods and nonperishables and hygiene items are needed. BLOCK WATCH TO MEET: The Girard 2nd and 3rd Wards Block Watch will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Girard Free Library with guest speaker, Girard Police Chief John Norman.

LIBRARY PROGRAMS: The Girard Free Library will offer programs for its summer “Oceans of Possibilities” series for children. Upcoming programs include All Hands on Deck art and activities 1 p.m. Friday and the Akron Zoo Mobile 11 a.m. July 27.

MOUNT CARMEL FESTIVAL: The Girard Mount Carmel Festival will be take place Tuesday to Saturday at the Italian Fraternal Home, 33 W. Wilson Ave. There will be food, games, bingo and nightly entertainment 8 to 11 p.m. On Saturday, the parade will be 10 a.m. with a march to St. Rose Parish for a service at 11 a.m. Fireworks by Zambelli will be at 11 p.m. Saturday by the Girard-McDonald viaduct.

During the fireworks presentation, East Liberty Street between U.S. Route 422 and Marshall Road at the bridge will be closed 8 p.m. to midnight. The detour is south on Route 422, west on Interstate 80, northwest on Salt Springs Road and northeast on West Liberty Street.

NILES FESTIVAL: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Robbins Avenue, Niles, will host the annual Mount Carmel Festival 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 17. There will be rides, games, bands, bocce and bingo. Live music will be 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and July 17 and 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

GREEK SUMMERFEST: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church will host the 37th annual Summerfest Thursday to July 10 at the church grounds, 220 N. Walnut St., Youngstown, across from the Choffin Career Center. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and July 10 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Food is available daily. POLAND SOCIETY TO MEET: The Poland Historical Society will host an open house 1 to 3 p.m. July 10 at the Little Red Schoolhouse.

TRASH COLLECTION: Youngstown residential trash collection will be affected by the Independence Day holiday. Each day’s collection will be delayed by one day throughout the week. Monday collection has been moved to Tuesday.

COMMUNITY PANTRY: Churchill United Methodist Church will host a church pantry 10 a.m. to noon Friday serving residents of Liberty and families of the Liberty school district. Those needing items are asked to bring identification and their own boxes. For information, call 330-759-0118.

MEDICINE WHEEL: Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road in Liberty will host a medicine wheel ceremony 12:30 p.m. July 10. The ceremony will be facilitated by Kimberly Ford and is open to the public. The medicine wheel is a sacred stone circle where people gather in ceremony giving offerings and blessings. SUPERHERO SATURDAY: A Superhero Comic Book show and Cosplay contest will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Andrews Hall at Angels for Animals. There will be toys and comic books. VETERAN SERVICES: The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission office will be closed Wednesday so members can attend a funeral service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
