JCC holding youth art class

ART OF NATURE: The Paul and Yetta Gluck School of Arts at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering a weeklong “Art of Nature” workshop for youth in grades five through eight. The workshop will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Aug. 10-14 at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane. Participants will discover art all around them as they create works of art with wet and dry media. They will examine the intersection of art and science, ways to derive art media from nature, and the natural forms and designs found outside. The cost is $75 for JCC members and $100 for nonmembers. Visit jccyoungstown+.org/visual arts to register.

TRASH AND TREASURE: Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., Girard, will hold a trash and treasure sale 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the church basement. There will be signs indicating entrance and exit doors. Red arrows will direct shoppers which direction to follow while shopping. A church bake sale and water will be available until 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Girard Boy Scouts.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: The Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard is holding a school supply distribution. It is still unclear what going back to school will look like for the 2020-21 year. Children still need school supplies and during the current difficult times families are struggling financially.

The center will be distributing school supplies to children in grades K-12 whose families are registered at the center.

Any family registered at the center in need of school supplies should call 330-545-4301 between now and Aug. 7. There is a designated date of the pickup. Families will be notified by phone when school supplies are ready.

Donations for school supplies can be dropped off at the center, 2 N. State St., by Aug. 7.
