NEW OFFICERS AT BUILDERS ASSOCIATION: The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania recently elected a new slate of officers.

They are Scott Froelich, vice president of TEMA Roofing Services in Girard, president; Jason Santini, vice president, Santini Builders of Washingtonville, first vice president; David Collins, president, Diamond Steel of North Lima, second vice president; Chris White, vice president, Boak and Sons of Austintown, third vice president; Mark Zeidenstein, partner, ZEBO LLC of Boardman, treasurer; Anthony Hufford, president, Pro Tec Roofing of Lordstown, past president; and Kevin Reilly, executive vice president of the association.

LOCAL DECOR STORE AWARDED: Spruce Home Decor, which has locations in Niles, Boardman and a holiday pop-up in downtown Youngstown, won the 2022 United Healthcare Small Business Sweepstakes hosted by The Ohio State University.

The award recognizes leading small businesses that are important to their communities.

Nicholas Giancola and Erica Giancola Lewis, sibling co-owners of Spruce, accepted the award Nov. 26 during an on-field presentation at the Ohio State vs. Michigan game on Small Business Saturday.

People on the move

iSYNERGY GROWS STAFF: iSynergy in Canfield, a digital marketing agency, has hired Sara Rogers of Canfield as a graphic designer for iSynergy and its sister company, Lift Marketing.

Rogers most recently worked as a graphic designer with a screen printing company. She is a graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in visual communication design.

GBS CORP APPOINTS DIVISION PRESIDENTS: GBS Corp, a national information solutions provider that has an office in Youngstown, has appointed Joe Calabria, Jeff Grippando and Mike Vitale to lead the company’s three divisions.

They start in the new roles Jan. 1.

Calabria, the vice president of document management and managed technology solutions who joined the Youngstown location in 1988, will oversee the technology division; Grippando is president of the brand connect division based at the company’s home office in North Canton; and Vitale will oversee the print technologies division.

MERCY HEALTH NAMES COUNSEL: Michael Gross has been named associate general counsel, serving Mercy Health-Youngstown and Mercy Health-Lorain.

In the role, Gross will provide legal guidance on a broad range of day-to-day issues in the acute-care setting, with focused support in the areas of risk assessment and mitigation, behavioral health, protective services, HIPAA privacy, regulatory compliance and policy harmonization.

He joins Mercy Health from OhioHealth Corp., where he served as assistant general counsel.

STOCK JOINS CHAMBER TEAM: The Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber has brought on JoAnn Stock as executive director of Leadership Mahoning Valley and the new Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

Stock will be responsible for relaunching the Leadership Mahoning Valley program, which has been on hiatus since 2020 due to the pandemic. She also will be responsible for starting the new Center for Nonprofit Excellence that will provide professional development opportunities and resources to area nonprofit organizations.

Stock has spent much of her career in nonprofit management and has experience in the social service, health care and arts and culture sectors. Overall, she has led the efforts to raise nearly $55 million to support local programs, services and capital projects for the organizations she has served, including the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley and, most recently, Stambaugh Auditorium and affiliated arts organizations.

HOSPITAL ANNOUNCES SITE DIRECTOR: Dr. Justin Buland has been selected as the new site director for neonatology for Akron Children’s Hospital services in the Mahoning Valley.

Buland has been a staff neonatologist at Akron Children’s Hospital NICU at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital and the Special Care Nursery at the Beeghly campus since September 2021. He will transition into his role as site director starting March 5.

Dr. Barb Clouser, the current site director for neonatology, will begin her retirement in April 2023.

PREMIER BANK ANNOUNCES SENIOR TRUST OFFICER: Premier Bank has brought on Denise Glinatsis Bayer as vice president, senior trust officer serving the Mahoning Valley.

Bayer brings with her three years of experience in trust / banking and 15 years of legal expertise in business, nonprofit and estate planning. She most recently worked as a vice president, senior trust relationship manager for a regional bank headquartered in Columbus.

In her new role at Premier Bank, Bayer will oversee the administration of trusts and estate settlements, evaluate estate planning strategies for clients and work to develop relationships with members of the Mahoning Valley.
