Two large properties bought in Austintown

Dollar General going in 1 spot; Home Depot occupies other plot

AUSTINTOWN — An Alabama-based commercial land development firm has acquired about 1.5 acres of vacant property on Mahoning Avenue for $298,000 to develop into a dollar store.

Also, a commercial real estate developer in Pittsburgh has bought the land occupied by Home Depot for $3.8 million.

Both transactions finalized Wednesday, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office.

HSC Youngstown LLC, an affiliate of Hix Snedeker Companies in Daphne, Ala., bought the land at 4470 Mahoning Ave. — between Rheims Avenue and Norquest Boulevard — from Mahoning Avenue LLC, which had owned the land since 2014.

A township official said a Dollar General store is planned for the site. The land has a tax value of $71,440.

Also, an affiliate of Kamin Realty Co. in Pittsburgh, Daniel G. Kamin Youngstown LLC, purchased 9.96 acres at 6100 Mahoning Ave., Home Depot, from Jain Family Holdings North LLC, which owned the property since 2007, according to the auditor’s office.

An official with Kamin Realty Co. said the sale was a standard arms length transaction. The home improvement store was built in 2005, according to the auditor’s office.
