Liberty and Girard’s shared services deal locked in

LIBERTY — An agreement between two districts for services has finally been set, as the Liberty Board of Education approved a shared services agreement with Girard City School District. According to the resolution, Liberty could not employ a chief bus mechanic/bus driver and was in need of someone to assume the role, which Girard had. Boardman to seek new police/fire levy

BOARDMAN — Township trustees will request a new levy in November to support police and fire services. Officials say the township’s five-year forecast makes it clear that the cost to maintain services at their current level will become prohibitive. Those calculations do not include the roughly $204,000 Boardman stands to lose from its budget after Mahoning County Commissioners approved a resolution to increase the owner-occupied tax credit by 2.5% on Tuesday. KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian forces struck Russia’s major Ufa oil refinery for the second time in a week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday. Renovation gets $2M additional tax credit

YOUNGSTOWN — The $21.66 million planned renovation project to Youngstown’s tallest building received another state tax credit. The state on Wednesday awarded a $2 million Transformational Mixed-Use Development Program grant to the proposed Central Tower project. The project on June 24 received notice about a $4.25 million state historic preservation tax credit. That tax credit replaced a $2 million state historic preservation tax credit awarded Dec. 11, 2024. The project would convert the 97-year-old, 17-story building at 1 W.
