Youngstown main library hosts America250 event An America250 Celebration is planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Mural unveiling part of First Fridays event

The unveiling of the Layer of Legacy mural will be part of First Fridays Youngstown. The mural in the 100 block of West Federal Street was part of America250-Ohio’s efforts to commemorate the country’s semiquincentennial. Artists were selected from nearly 30 applicants to create the mural on the brick facade. It will be officially unveiled at 3 p.m. Friday at the Disco Garden, and it was funded through contributions by the America250-Ohio Commission, Mayhew Family Foundation, Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, The Youngstown Foundation and ISLE/Purple Cat.
