Warren library program shares heartwarming Ohio stories

A program on “Heartwarming Stories about Favorite People from Ohio” is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

Presenter Susan Cannavino will share stories about the powerful friendship between Olympic legend Jesse Owens and a German competitor during the 1936 Berlin Games, the lasting contributions of Paul Newman and Erma Bombeck and the courage of Dorothy Fuldheim.

The program is free and can be attended in person or via Zoom.

Westminster College hosts River City Brass Band for free concert Friday

The River City Brass Band will play a free outdoor concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Brittain Lake as part of Westminster College’s Independence Day celebration.

It is America’s only full-time professional brass band and is known for its energetic sound and patriotic repertoire.

The concert will be followed by a fireworks display by Pyrotechnica at 9:15 p.m. Friday. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Anderson Amphitheater.
