JCC reopens visual arts studio after renovation
The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, will celebrate the reopening of the Paul and Yetta Gluck School of Visual Arts on Wednesday.
The studio recently underwent an accessibility renovation. The more inclusive creative environment offers flexible work stations, wheelchair adaptable furniture, expanded floor space and specialized art tools.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 5:15 p.m. and an accessibilities tour at 6:15 p.m. Attendees will be able to tour the updated space, meet the department team, make and take some art and enjoy light refreshments. For more information, go to jccyoungstown.org.
Poets needed for Women Artists Show
Poets are needed for the annual collaboration between Lit Youngstown and the YWCA of Youngstown on the YWCA’s Women Artists Show.
Poets will receive up to three images of artwork to inspire poems. Selected poems will be presented alongside the artwork, and the poets will be invited to read their work at the opening reception on July 22.
It is open to poets of all ages and gender identities. The deadline to register is June 15. Poets are not required to attend the event to participate. To register, go to lityoungstown.org.
‘Boom Boom’ Mancini to speak at Ford
The Mahoning County Bar Association presents “An Evening with Boxing Legend Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini” on Oct. 21 at DeYor Performing Arts Center’s Ford Family Recital Hall, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown.
The Youngstown boxing legend will share stories from his career, the challenges he faced and the resilience that shaped his life both inside and outside the ring.
Admission is free, but tickets for the 7 p.m. program are required and are available at the DeYor box office and online at experienceyourarts.org.
