First Friday Youngstown, MVHS partner for event

First Fridays Youngstown joins forces with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s 150th anniversary celebration for its next event.

Events from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday are planned along West Federal Street, Vindicator Square and the surrounding area.

An outdoor stage on Federal Street will feature performances by Kari Ann Rutushian at 4 p.m. and Seasons of Swing at 6:15 p.m. A full-service bar will be available with beer, wine and signature cocktails.

MVHS will host an open house and local history fair at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal Street. Walking tours of the Spring Commons and West Federal areas featuring stories about the events that shaped Youngstown’s past will depart from the Tyler lobby every 30 minutes from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

WRTA’s new electric bus will be on display as well as a 1940s Ford Youngstown water truck, a 1953 American LaFrance fire truck and vintage Model T.

Visitors can participate in an interactive passport program, collecting stamps at featured locations and redeeming completed passports at MVHS for a free Good Humor bar while supplies last. The passport also enters participants into a drawing for a prize basket curated by Sweet Memories Vintage Tees.

Other activities include Youngstown Business Incubator tours and vendor showcases, and WRTA open house, art and event space demo by artist Daniel Rauschenbach at Concept Studio, an open house at Strollo Architects, a vendors market and food trucks. Following First Fridays Youngstown will be a free concert at 8 p.m. at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre by the Ward-Beck Project.
