JCC gallery features watercolors; reception planned for Jan. 7

Members of the Mahoning Valley Watercolor Society are displaying their work in an exhibition now on display at the Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation Art Gallery.

“Color, Light, Shadow, Joy: The MVWS Presents a Range of Watercolor Works” features member works that feature a range of styles and techniques.

The society was founded in 1982 by 11 area artists whose goal was to encourage local watercolor painters. The mission continues 43 years later as the group provides members with a place to share their work, to learn new techniques and to help them find venues to show / sell their paintings.

All water-media painters are welcome regardless of their level of experience. The group includes beginners as well as professionals who teach and show their works nationally and internationally.

The exhibition runs through Jan. 28 at the gallery located at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane. A reception is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 7.
