‘Aladdin’ musical opens tonight in Boardman
Oakland Center for the Arts’ Kids First Theatre Initiative opens the musical “Aladdin” tonight in Boardman.
The musical — with music by Alan Menken, a book by Chad Beguelin and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Beguelin — is based on the 1992 Disney animated feature about a boy who finds a magic lamp and uses his three wishes to pose as a prince and woo a princess.
It opened on Broadway in 2014, receiving five Tony nominations (including best musical, book and score), and has run for more than 2,800 performances.
OCA’s production, which was scheduled to open earlier this summer and was delayed by health issues, includes students from its Kids First Au-Stars program, which works with kids on the autism spectrum.
The cast features Cameron Keffer, Caroline Capuzello, Lexi Dombrosky, Nicholas McGoogan, Adriana Trafficate, Addison Goche, Brook Fordham, Trudi Herrholtz, Leah Kovacs, Casey Herrholtz, Connor Fitzpatrick, Trip Matthews, Charlotte Ward, Alex Cook, Chris Rutledge, Alyssa Moliterno, Makenna Ray, Zoe Powers, James Matig, Ace Johnson, Henry Buzzacco, Alex Hoover, Mackenzie Dennison, Laney Messersmith, Ellie Moliterno, Ace Johnson, Julianna Moore, Brylee Rutledge, Charleigh Book, Sophia Peralta, Lennon Ciavarella, Annabell Rauschenbach, Gariella Abramowski, Hannah Abramowski, Serena Martinez and Frankie Wray.
