BWR announces weekend events
Two events this weekend will showcase dancers from Ballet Western Reserve.
The ballet company’s 10th Building Art fundraiser will feature three graduating senior company members — Emelia Aey, Meghan Delaney and Ava Shapiro. “A Senior Focus — 2020 Vision” will highlight their talents and raise money for the troupe’s home in the Morley Building, 218 W. Boardman St., Youngstown.
Building Art, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Morley Building, includes hors d’ oeuvres, cocktails, the work of local artists, live music and dancing. Tickets are $25.
Young dancers will be featured for ‘Down on the Farm’ at 3 p.m. Sunday at BWR studios. The students will perform as animals, vegetables and other farm characters. Tickets for this family-friendly event are $8.
Ballet Western Reserve will conclude its current season with the classic storybook ballet “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” which will be staged May 15-17 at Youngstown State University’s Ford Theater.
Tickets for the two events this weekend are available online at www.balletwesternreserve.org and by calling 330-744-1931.
