The unveiling of the Layer of Legacy mural will be part of First Fridays Youngstown. The mural in the 100 block of West Federal Street was part of America250-Ohio’s efforts to commemorate the country’s semiquincentennial. Artists were selected from nearly 30 applicants to create the mural on the brick facade. It will be officially unveiled at 3 p.m. Friday at the Disco Garden, and it was funded through contributions by the America250-Ohio Commission, Mayhew Family Foundation, Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, The Youngstown Foundation and ISLE/Purple Cat.
