SERBIAN DAY: Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 39 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will host the 91st annual Serbian Day picnic noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. The event will include live musical entertainment, including Nocne Sove (Night Owls) of Youngstown from 1 to 3 p.m. and Orkestar Zabava of Pittsburgh 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the pavilion. There will be traditional foods. Admission is free.

155TH CHURCH ANNIVERSARY: St. Andrew’s AME Church, 521 W. Earle Ave., will celebrate its 155th church anniversary Saturday and Sunday with a full weekend of events. Saturday will be the annual flea market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday worship at 11 a.m. with guest preacher Rev. Paula Guilford Harris from Columbus. FIRST FRIDAY CLUB: The 18th annual First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown Speaker Series season will present a luncheon Aug. 1 with guest speaker Gabriel Said Reynolds, Ph.D., professor of Islamic Studies and Theology at the University of Notre Dame.

At Notre Dame, Reynolds teaches courses on theology, Muslim / Christian relations and Islamic Origins. He runs a YouTube channel, “Exploring the Qur’an and the Bible” that features conversations on scripture with leading scholars.

60 YEARS: Living Lord Lutheran Church, 851 Niles-Cortland Road, Howland, is marking its 60th anniversary and will host a picnic and open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be entertainment, food and activities.

CONCERT SET: Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, is hosting a Concert on the Lawn with Nina and Rick from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The community is invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy music from the 1960s to the present. The concert is free, but a love offering will be accepted. All proceeds raised will go toward Unity’s effort to replace flooring in the kitchen and fellowship hall. Should it rain, the performance will be inside the center.

UNITY EVENT: Girard Ministerial Association will host a “Unity in the Community” picnic noon Saturday at Tod Park in Girard. The event is open to all denominations. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share.

Jewish Views on Human Suffering and its Meanings at 3 p.m. and What Comes After Life? The Opinions of Judaism at 7 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the Rev. George Balasko and Rabbi Joseph P. Schonberger. Both programs also will be available via Zoom.

Kraemer is the Joseph J. and Dora Abbell Librarian at The Jewish Theological Seminary, where he has also served as professor of Talmud and Rabbinics for many years.

GOING GREEN: First Federated Church in North Jackson distributes seeds for tomatoes, peppers and flowers to plant at home. Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard food pantry at First Federated Church is a Second Harvest affiliate providing community families with food staples and necessities. The pantry has been in operation since 1980, serving more than 2,000 people annually and is open 9 to 11 a.m. one Saturday each month. HYMN SING FOR SOJOURN: The Youngstown Hymn Sing will present “Let There Be Peace on Earth” — a free community event benefiting Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past — at 11 a.m. today at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Youngstown. Students from Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past will give a presentation expressing how their lives have been impacted by the organization. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the organization.

Refreshments will be available after the performance. Anyone who wishes to participate in the community chorus can drop in at 9:45 a.m.

72 YEARS IN MINISTRY: The Faith Fellowship Church of God, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, will feature Dr. Jack G. Bridges, retired, preaching on the 72nd year of his ministry at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. He preached his first sermon July 12, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, and he will be preaching Sunday.

TRUMBULL FAIR WORSHIP SERVICE: Bazetta Christian Church, 4131 Hoagland Blackstub Road, a long time supporter of the Trumbull Fair worship service, is partnering with Champion Christin Church, 151 Center St. West, for an open-air community worship service 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Trumbull County fairgrounds. The service is open to the public. Bazetta pastor, the Rev. Timothy McCollum and Champion pastor, the Rev. Julie Western, will present the Gospel message. Communion will be served.

GUEST SPEAKER: Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning Ave. NW, will host a program “Work Produced by Faith, Labor Prompted by Love, Endurance Inspired by Hope” at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Rev. Elmarie Parker, PC Regional Liaison to the Middle East and Revs. Drs. Noah Park and Esther Shin, mission coworkers serving as professors at the Evangelical Seminary in Cairo, will share testimonies and opportunities to collaborate with God’s life-giving work through our partners in the Middle East. Multiple challenges have enveloped Lebanon and the wider region since the fall of 2019.

FARMINGTON CHURCH BIRTHDAY: Farmington Community Church, 240 W. College St., will mark its one-year birthday at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with a worship team from Freedom Fellowship Church of Apple Creek. Guest speakers are Daryl and Debbie Snyder, who have done missionary work for 25 years in Albania.

Sean Baran (First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh), Frank Behne III (Boardman United Methodist Church), Ralph Holtzhauser (Youngstown Diocese) and Katherine Miller (Westminster Presbyterian Church) will be the featured organists demonstrating the power and majesty of the largest pipe organ between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The audience will be invited to sing on four hymns throughout the concert and local pastors will present brief reflections before each hymn.
