$7.3M OK’d for Youngstown sewer project

YOUNGSTOWN — City council voted to permit the board of control to spend about $7.3 million on two parts of a major wastewater improvement project. Council voted 6-0 Monday in favor of both pieces of legislation. Councilwoman Cynthia McWilson, D-6th Ward, was absent from the meeting. The city will use money it has in its wastewater fund to pay for both phases, said Finance Director Kyle Miasek. Trial for suspect in postal carrier killing delayed

Newly discovered evidence in the federal murder trial of Kaprise and Thomas Sledge caused the start of the trial to be moved from Monday to 8:30 a.m. this Friday, according to a Sunday and a Monday filing in U.S. District Court in Cleveland. The Sledges were supposed to go on trial Monday in the March 2, 2024, shooting death of U.S. Postal Service carrier Jonte Davis, 33, at Olive Avenue and Scott Street just northeast of Courthouse Square in Warren.
