MENORAH DISPLAYED FOR HANUKAH: The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation has placed a 9-foot menorah on display in front of the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, for Hanukkah (or Chanukah), which is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime “festival of lights.” It is celebrated with a nightly hanukkah lighting, special prayers and fried foods. A nine-branched menorah, also known as a hanukkiah, is lit on Hanukkah. One candle, the shamas, is used to light the others.
