BASEBALL

Kennedy 3, Harding 1

In a pitching duel, Kennedy’s Fred Bolchalk went the distance for the victors, fanning nine and allowing four hits. The Eagles’ offense was led by Caleb Hadley who tallied two hits and an RBI. Santino Ciambotti also lent two hits in the win. For Harding, Blaise Schuller tripled and scored the lone run. Braylen Schuller went the distance on the bump for the Raiders, fanning three.

Newton Falls 7, Brookfield 5

It took an extra frame, but Newton Falls was able to best Brookfield 7-5. Alex Pennington picked up the win as the Newton Falls offense was led by Owen Gazda who tallied three hits and two RBIs.

Champion 13, Liberty 2

Behind a five-run third inning, Champion was able to get the better of Liberty 13-2 Thursday night. The high-charged Golden Flash offense was led by Nolan who doubled twice and belted a home run, tallying four RBIs. Skaggs also lent two doubles in the win.

Lakeview 6, Niles 5

In a game that was decided by one run in the bottom of an extra frame, Lakeview continued its hot streak with a decisive 6-5 win over Niles. Nolan Toth picked up the win for the Bulldogs and Andrew Brown led the offensive attack with two hits including a double. For Niles, Kris Hrosar tallied two singles and a double.

Mathews 10, Jackson-Milton 0

After posting four runs in the opening frame, Mathews didn’t let off the gas until the final out was recorded in a 10-0 win over Jackson-Milton. Four Mustangs tallied two hits and Tyler Pesa doubled and knocked in three runs. Alex Nicholson earned the win behind an eight-strikeout performance.

Berkshire 3, Grand Valley 1

In a tight contest, the Grand Valley Mustangs were bested by Berkshire 3-1 despite a late run at the lead. Turner and Foss both doubled for Grand Valley in the loss and Turner fanned seven on the mound.

Fitch 6, Mooney 3

The Fitch Falcons whacked a dozen hits in Thursday’s 6-3 win over Cardinal Mooney. Four Falcons tallied two hits and one doubled in the win. On the mound, Kyprianou struck out three and didn’t allow a free pass. For Mooney, Reese tallied three hits.

Poland 4, South Range 2

Pitching was on display in Poland’s 4-2 win over South Range. Dominic Elia fanned 10 in a complete game. Offensively, South Range bested the victors behind doubles from Wardle, Tarajack and Plunkett. For Poland, Matt Paparodis tallied a single and a double.

Crestview 5, Bristol 3

A strong first inning for Crestview was the difference maker in a tight contest against Bristol. Ethan Feezle led the offensive charge for Crestview with two doubles and an RBI. For Bristol, Diesel Williams tallied a double with an RBI.

Ursuline 7, Heartland Christian 0

Johnny Cambert tossed a one-hit shutout in Ursuline’s 7-0 route of Heartland Christian. On the offensive side, Andrew Kirila was the bright spot for Ursuline going three-for-four with a double and a pair of RBIs.

SOFTBALL

Mathews 10, Windham 0

Ashia Pate fanned eight and allowed only one hit and one walk in the dominant win over Windham. The offensive onslaught was headed by the duo of Olivia Matheny and Maddy Hufford. Both drove in two runs, but Matheny doubled twice and Hufford belted a home run and a single. Rilee Paddock and Kennedy Newsome both doubled and drove in two runs each.

Mathews 10, Canton Central Catholic 8

Mathews stuck to a slow and methodical means to put away Canton Central Catholic, scoring two runs in every other inning. Canton Central posted an eight-run second inning, but behind a strong offensive performance, were able to persevere. Gianna Toto led the way offensively with a pair of doubles and RBIs. Kennedy Newsome helped her cause on the mound with three hits including two doubles as well.

Alliance 8, Salem 3

Despite the loss, the Salem bats were awake with four Quakers tallying two hits. Hadley Carlisle led the way with a single and a double. Mack Zumbar also doubled for Salem.

Brookfield 15, Newton Falls 0

Brookfield dominated in a 15-0 win over Newton Falls. Winning pitcher Miranda Nicholson fanned seven and walked one, but the performance of Abby DeJoy was the catalyst for the Brookfield offense with two home runs and three RBIs. Two others tallied two hits and Katie Logan blasted a home run as well.

Lordstown 10, St. John 0

Madison Kihm earned the win in a dominant Lordstown victory over Ashtabula St. John. Piper Click led the offensive charge for Lordstown with two base knocks and three RBIs. Navawna King added a pair of hits and RBIs as well.

Fitch 7, Chardon 2

Sydney Watts struck out a staggering 13 Chardon batters en route to a 7-2 Fitch win. Morgan Roby was the offensive spark plug for the victors, hitting a single and double, as well as tallying three RBIs. Samantha Severn and Caitlin Mitchell also doubled in the win.

McDonald 3, Springfield 1

Despite a game-high 13 strikeouts from Haleigh McCalla, the Springfield Tigers weren’t able to overcome a two-run sixth inning from McDonald. The Blue Devils were led by Alivia Morrison who tallied two hits including a double and two RBIs.

South Range 8, Poland 6

After giving up the lead in the fourth inning, South Range crossed the plate twice in the fifth inning and once more in the sixth to beat Poland 8-6. Juli Stachowicz picked up the win in relief and was the leader on offense with three hits and two RBIs. For Poland, Leanna Boccieri and Mary Brant doubled.

Jackson-Milton 12, Lowellville 0

Paige Grope led the charge for the Jackson-Milton Blue Jays in Thursday’s contest against Lowellville. Grope tallied a double and home run in the 12-0 win. Four other Blue Jays knocked two or more hits as well.

Howland 10, Geneva 1

Alexia Spangler pitched a three-hit, one-run complete game Thursday in Howland’s 10-1 win over Geneva. Leading the Tigers offensively was Chloe Lopez, who was a perfect 3-3 on the day with a home run and three RBIs. Five other Tigers claimed two or more hits as well.

Lakeview 21, Niles 0

Lakeview’s Ella Chadwick pitched a dominant five innings in Thursday’s 21-0 win over Niles. Chadwick allowed only three hits while fanning 4 and allowing one free pass. Offensively, all Bulldog batters tallied at least one hit while Gianna Caruso lead the way with four runs batted in and three hits including a double and a round-tripper.

Harding 6, Struthers 0

Kerrigan Riley 6.2 innings of near perfection, fanning 12, walking one and allowing only one hit in Warren G. Harding’s 6-0 route of Struthers Thursday. Leading the charge offensively for the Raiders, Ky’Ziya Minor had the hot bat, collecting two hits including a double and tallied two runs batted in.

Cardinal 4, LaBrae 2

The LaBrae Vikings dropped a close game Thursday against Cardinal. After Cardinal scored two in the first and two more in the second, LaBrae pitchers Rowe and Magoulick settled in while the offense threatened, picking up runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Badger 13, Bloomfield 3

The Badger offense exploded for 13 runs on 14 hits in Thursday’s win over Bloomfield. The Braves were led by Julia Toth who tallied three hits, including a double and three-bagger. She also knocked in four runs.
