YOUNGSTOWN — The 6th Annual Christine Terlesky Lake Club Girls High School Golf Tournament took place Monday, with 15 teams competing in two divisions.

The Division I teams were Austintown Fitch, Boardman, GlenOak, Green, Medina Highland, Howland, Niles and Massillon Jackson. The Division II teams were Champion, Columbiana, Hubbard, Lakeview, Poland, Ravenna Southeast and Ursuline.

In Division I, Highland and Green both shot team scores of 316, the lowest ever shot in the tournament. Highland won the tiebreaker to claim 2021 championship honors. Massillon Jackson finished third (324), Boardman fourth (348), GlenOak fifth (370), Howland sixth (413), Niles seventh (452) and Fitch finished eighth. Sophomore Isabella Goyette from Medina Highland took medalist honors with an incredible score of 67 to set a new individual tournament record. The previous score of 69 was held by Jacinta Pikunas in 2016 and Jessica Hahn of GlenOak in 2017.

In this year’s tournament GlenOak’s Madison Reemsnyder shot a 69 to tie the record before it was broken by Goyette.

In Division II, Ursuline shot a team score of 389 to take first place honors and Ravenna Southeast was second with a team score of 399. Columbiana was third (405), Poland fourth (430), Champion fifth (439), Hubbard sixth (462), and Lakeview finished 7th (464). Poland senior Sophia Yurich took medalist honors by shooting an impressive 79 and tied the lowest tournament round in Division II with Jackie Adler from Hubbard in 2019.

Denise and Dan Gorski, tournament directors, credited the success of the tournament to Ed and Chris Muransky, the entire Lake Club staff, tournament workers, and the generous donations from sponsors who make this tournament such a success. The tournament is held in honor of Christine Moschella Terlesky, a former Boardman All-State athlete, history teacher and girls basketball and golf coach who battled ALS for almost 8 years before passing away Dec. 26, 2020.
