Friday highlights

SOFTBALL

Ursuline’s Emily Holland tossed a three-hitter, striking out 12, as Ursuline beat Rootstown, 10-0, in five innings. Paige Ogden and Maris Barbato each had three hits. Ogden tripled and drove in three, and Barbato had two doubles and two RBIs.

McDonald’s Bri Callow ended her career in style, striking out 15 and tossing a one-hitter in a 3-0 victory over Waterloo. Lucia Wolford powered the offense with three hits, including a double. The win gave the the Blue Devils (20-4, 13-0) the outright Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Tier championship.

Friday highlights

BASEBALL

Salem scored 15 runs in the top of the seventh inning to come back from a 1-0 deficit and beat Western Reserve. The Quakers fired off 13 hits in the inning and capitalized off four errors.

Heading into the inning, Salem only had one hit.

Pitcher Brock Young struck out nine in a complete game and helped set a school record for wins in a season. The Quakers sit at 21-3 and play their final league game of the season and look to finish a perfect 12-0 in league play.

BASEBALL

Ryan Petro threw four strikeouts for Canfield in a no-hitter victory over West Branch Friday.

The Cardinals move to 16-0 on the season with the win. Dom Magliocca had three hits.

SOFTBALL

Emma Gates threw 11 strikeouts in a big win for Mathews over Maplewood. Gates had four hits including a home run and had six RBIs.

The Mustangs are 16-4 on the year and remain undefeated in league play.
