Gamble powers Clippers
SOFTBALL
Columbiana’s Mackenzi Gamble socked five hits and drove in seven runs to help the Clippers cruise past Columbiana, 23-1, in five innings. Gamble homered and hit two doubles. Tori Long and Ada Davanzo each added four hits. Julia Rapp and Cessna Stoy homered as part of the 23-hit attack.
Bree Kohler struck out 13 to lead South Range past Greenbrier Christian Academy, 7-3, at the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In Game 2, Juli Stachowicz homered, doubled and drove in three runs in an 8-2 win over Cheraw (Va.).
Howland’s Bailee Beasom had six RBIs and four hits to power the Tigers past Salem, 20-10, in a slugfest. Howland’s Alyssa Massucci added three hits — including a triple. Alexia Spangler struck out 12 for the Tigers.
BASEBALL
Trey Pancake had four hits and drove in four runs in South Range’s 13-3, six-inning victory over Carroll in the Ripken Experience tournament at Myrtle Beach. Pancake doubled and tripled in the victory.
