Ursuline, Mooney win in SVC

¯ URSULINE 69, CHANEY 30: YOUNGSTOWN — Alayna Smith led three Ursuline players in double figures with 21 points as the Irish toppled Chaney in a Steel Valley Conference.

Ursuline (7-4-, 2-0) shut down the Cowboys, taking a 30-9 halftime lead. Anisah Moorman was right behind Smith with 19 points, and Rachel Fabry added 10. Cashia Jackson paced Chaney with 18 points.

¯ CANFIELD 61, HOWLAND 45: CANFIELD — Canfield took control of a close game by dominating the third quarter and pulling away from the Tigers in an All-American Conference.

Six different Cardinals scored in the decisive third quarter, when Canfield outscored Howland, 23-7, to take a commanding 17-point lead. Alyssa Dill scored seven of her game-high 21 points in the third. Abby Muckleroy added 17 points for the Cardinals (7-6, 3-1).

¯ CARDINAL MOONEY 36, EAST 34: YOUNGSTOWN — Cardinal Mooney held off a late run by the Golden Bears in a SVC matchup.

The Cardinals led 31-26 before a late rally by East. It was a balanced attack that allowed Mooney to withstand the Golden Bears, with nine players scoring, led by Katie Hough’s nine points.

East’s Amarra Prirto led all scorers with 12. The Golden Bears held Mooney to five points in the final quarter to close the gap.

¯ LaBRAE 65, NILES 29: LEAVITTSBURG — Eight players scored for Niles, with Katie Heinselman leading the way with eight.
