Springfield, SR, Poland, JM win in Week 4

¯ SPRINGFIELD 62, LOWELLVILLE 18: NEW MIDDLETOWN — The Tigers had 419 total yards and dominated an offensively gifted Lowellville team in this Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference, Scarlet Tier matchup.

Beau Brungard had more than 250 yards passing and receiving for a combined five touchdowns for Springfield (4-0, 4-0 MVAC Scarlet).

Vinny Ballone paced Lowellville (1-3, 1-3) with a 25-of-41 night for 260 yards and three scores.

Brady Bunofsky had 13 receptions for 149 yards, while Cole Bunofsky had five receptions for 64 yards and a score.

For Springfield, Seandelle Gardner had two receptions for 83 yard, including a 36-yard TD pass from Brungard.

Clayton Nezbeth had five carries for 66 yards and score.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 52, JEFFERSON 20: JEFFERSON — Michael Patrone had a combined 370 yards rushing and passing as the Raiders ran roughshod on the Falcons in this Northeast-8 matchup.

Patrone had three carries for 140 yards, while passing 12-of-14 for 230 yards and five touchdowns.

South Range (4-0, 4-0 NE-8) had 563 total yards to 328 for Jefferson (0-4, 0-4).

Dylan Dominguez had 15 carries for 105 yards and three scores from 24, 14 and 16 yards out. The Raiders had 32 carries for 333 yards.

Dominguez had two catches for 73 yards, including a 49-yard TD by Patrone.

Jefferson had 44 carries for 224 yards, led by Grant Hitchcock’s 16 carries for 123 yards and one score.

¯ POLAND 44, LAKEVIEW 6: CORTLAND — Poland ran for more than 300 yards and five touchdowns in a NE-8 rout of Lakeview.

The Bulldogs’ Peyton Mrakovich led the rushing attack with 115 yards and two TDs. Jacob Caudle added 88 yards and one TD. Poland (3-1, 3-1) also held Lakeview (0-4, 0-4) to negative 19 yards rushing.

Lakeview did score its first TD of the season, cutting the score to 13-6 late in the first quarter. Poland answered with a 4-yard TD run by Christian Colosimo and then returned a fumble 15 yards for another score. It pulled away with two TDs in the second half.

¯ JACKSON-MILTON 46, WESTERN RESERVE 38: BERLIN CENTER — In the latest meeting between Jackson-Milton and Western Reserve, it was the Blue Jays who came out on top after a big performance from running back Sean Lengyel.

Lengyel ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns, also returning an interception for a touchdown.

Quarterback Frank Prozy threw for 156 yards and a touchdown.

Western Reserve was led by quarterback Nick Cavoulas who threw for 296 yards and five touchdowns. David Altiere had 97 yards receiving.

Jackson-Milton moves to 4-0.

¯ CAMPBELL 14, LIBERTY 12: CHURCHILL — All of the scoring in the MVAC-Gray contest took place in the second quarter and the difference in the outcome was one two-point conversion.

Christian Stores threw a two-point conversion pass to Dylan Harris after tossing a 19-yard touchdown pass to Christian James. The Red Devils, who improved to 2-2 overall and in the league, used a 39-yard interception return for the game’s final score late in the first half.

The Leopards fell to 1-3, all in league play.

¯ McDONALD 35, MINERAL RIDGE 14: McDONALD — Dominic Schadl rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 78 yards and a touchdown as the Blue Devils improved to 3-1 overall and in the MVAC-Scarlet.

Nathan Gilligan added touchdown runs of 34 yards and 3 yards for the Devils, who led 14-0 at halftime and 28-6 entering the fourth quarter.

The Rams, who dropped to 1-3 overall and in the league, got 122 yards and a touchdown rushing from Shakir Perkins and Mark Bunch capped the game’s scoring with an 8-yard pass to Austin Governor.

¯ HUBBARD 25, GIRARD 7: GIRARD — T.C. Caffey was a couple yards short of 300 rushing yards as the Eagles’ running back had 28 carries for 293 yards and two scores to lead Hubbard in this Northeast-8 Conference matchup.

The two teams combined for more than 700 yards in this contest.

Hubbard (4-0, 4-0 NE-8) dominated the running game with 50 carries for 378 yards.

Girard (1-3, 1-3) was led by Andrew DelGarbino’s 26-of-37 for 276 yards.

The Indians scored on the game’s first drive, a 25-yard strike to Dominic Malito with 7:27 left in the first quarter.

Girard didn’t have much success reaching the end zone afte that initial drive as the Indians had 15 penalties for 100 yards. The running game was stymied as well as Hubbard stopped held Girard to 26 carries for 66 yards.
