The annual Bill Sferra Fastpitch Classic has survived the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event annually pits senior softball stars from Mahoning and Trumbull counties against each other. With the pandemic causing school spring sports to be wiped out, it seemed the all-star classic would not have a 2020 version.

But coaches and officials were able to put things together and the game — nine innings, starting at 5:30 p.m. — will be held Monday at Liberty Township Park, allowing a handful of student-athletes to compete at least one more time with and against high school teammates and opponents.
