Boardman drubs Louisville; NE-8 leaders win

¯ BOARDMAN 59, LOUISVILLE 35: BOARDMAN — Derrick Anderson continued his dominant season, scoring 20 points for the Spartans in a big win over Louisville.

Anderson’s 20 points was a game-high for Boardman. Tommy Fryda added 12 points.

The Spartans held the Leopards to nine points in the first half, while scoring 30.

Ethan Andersen scored eight points and brought down eight rebounds.

¯ HUDSON 54, AUSTINTOWN FITCH 51: HUDSON — The Falcons mounted a comeback effort, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Hudson.

Fitch scored 22 points in the fourth quarter, while holding the Explorers to 12 points.

Todd Simons led the Falcons with 19 points and Kris Brown added 14.

¯ POLAND 63, HUBBARD 56: POLAND — Michael Cougras and Andrew Centofanti combined to score 30 points and the host Bulldogs stayed in contention for a Northeast-8 Conference title by holding off the Eagles.

Cougras netted 19 points and Centofanti scored 11 for Poland, which outscored Hubbard 32-25 in the second half after the teams were deadlocked at 31 at intermission. Andrew Kassem collected 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs had a 39-26 advantage on the boards en route to improved to 13-6 overall and 10-3 in the conference.

Cam Resatar tallied 26 points to pace Hubbard, including 15 on 3-pointers. Chanze Kelley supplied 14 points and Jayden Record added 10 for Hubbard (5-13 and 3-10).

¯ STRUTHERS 59, NILES 39: STRUTHERS — Brandon Washington had a game-high 19 points to lead the Wildcats past the Red Dragons in this Northeast-8 contest.

Carson Ryan added 16 points for Struthers (15-2, 10-2 NE-8), while Aidan Slocum put in 14.

Doug Foster paced Niles (3-13, 2-9) with 12 points, while Joe Wolfe scored 11.

¯ GIRARD 42, SOUTH RANGE 40: GIRARD — Christian Graziano and Lorenzo Frigerio each scored 15 points for the Indians to hold on and beat South Range.

Girard outscored the Raiders 31-23 in the second and third quarters to get the lead after trailing by four in the first quarter.

Nate Brown and Chris Brooks each scored 10 to lead South Range.

¯ LOWELLVILLE 66, EAST PALESTINE 45: EAST PALESTINE — A 38-point second half pushed the Rockets past East Palestine.

Vinny Ballone led Lowellville with 18 points on the night. Anthony Lucente scored 15 points.

Leading for the Bulldogs was Johnathan Bertovitch with 23 points.

¯ SALEM 55, WESTERN RESERVE 45: BERLIN CENTER — The visiting Quakers held off Western Reserve in a non-league tilt, as Hunter Griffith and Drew Weir combined for 33 points to offset the 24 scored by Todd Henning of the Blue Devils.

Salem led 33-21 at halftime, but the hosts pulled within 38-32 entering the fourth quarter. Griffith finished with 17 points and Weir had 16. Preston Reed scored eight for Western Reserve, which fell to 7-14.

¯ JACKSON-MILTON 59, LEETONIA 47: LEETONIA — Mason Robinson poured in 22 points to lead the visiting Blue Jays past the Bears in a non-league battle.

Jackson Milton used an 18-7 scoring advantage in the second period to take a 29-18 halftime lead and stretched it to 45-27 entering the final quarter.

Nick McGinnies added nine points for the Blue Jays, who moved their mark to 7-14.

Dylan Lennon and Marco Ferry both scored 13 points for Leetonia.

¯ KENNEDY 63, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 47: YOUNGSTOWN — Cam Hollobaugh had a game-high 27 points to lead Kennedy past Valley Christian.

Gabe Green added 17 points for Kennedy (6-10).

Mark Revere led Valley Christian (3-12) with 14 points, while Sekov Stanley put in 11.

¯ HOWLAND 60, LIBERTY 49: HOWLAND — Cam Durig scored 13 points for the Tigers in a victory over Liberty.

Durig led Howland with Gage Tomko scoring 12, Vince Marimpietri scored 10 and both Anthony Massucci and Gabe Badea added nine.

James Davis led the Leopards with a game-high 16 points.

Howland moves on to 5-14 on the year.

¯ LaBRAE 64, CRESTVIEW 47: COLUMBIANA — Connor Meyer scored 24 points for the Vkings to pick up a league win over Crestview.

Meyer’s 24 points was a game-high. Aidan Stephens scored 11 and Landon Kiser added 10.

Three players for Crestview scored 10 points. Jack Yerkey, Drake Golden and Brandon Yanssens each reached double-figures.
