Struthers, Mooney, Springfield cruise to wins

¯ GIRARD 34, HUBBARD 31: GIRARD — Girard’s second half play was just enough to get past Hubbard in a nailbiting victory.

After trailing at the break 22-13, the Indians outscored Hubbard 14-6 in the third quarter to push back and sealed the deal in the fourth, outscoring them 7-3.

Marissa Cave led Girard with 11 points.

Maddy McCann scored a game-high 14 points for the Eagles.

¯ STRUTHERS 47, LAKEVIEW 27: CORTLAND — Renee Leonard scored 14 points for the Wildcats in a league win over Lakeview.

Leonard’s 14 points was a game-high with Chlose Neider following behind with eight.

The Struthers offense scored 17 points in the second quarter and 12 in the third while holding Lakeview to a combined 14 points across the middle quarters.

Maggie Pavlansky led the Bulldogs with 13.

¯ LEETONIA 37, UNITED 26: LEETONIA — Despite going into the second quarter with a 10-point deficit, the Bears powered back to get an 11-point victory over United.

Leetonia went into the second frame trailing 14-4, but went on to outscore the Golden Eagles 9-2, 14-3 and 10-7 in each of the next three quarters to pull away.

Leading for the Bears were Samantha Schneider and Tarah Perry with nine points.

¯ CARDINAL MOONEY 54, NEWTON FALLS 16: NEWTON FALLS — Caitie Perry had seven of her game-high 15 points in the third quarter as the Cardinals blanked the Tigers, 17-0.

Katie Hough and Alaina Scavina each had 10 for Cardnal Mooney (8-5), which outscored Newton Falls 29-7 in the second and fourth quarters combined. The Tigers were held without a field goal in the second half.

Newton Falls (8-5) had a 9-8 lead after the first quarter and was led by Bree Hutson with eight points.

¯ SPRINGFIELD 47, WATERLOO 21: NEW MIDDLETOWN — Jacey Mullen had 10 of her game-high 13 points in the second half as the Tigers beat the Vikings in this Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference game.

Madison Lesnak and Kaila LaMorticella each had 10 points for Springfield (6-7, 3-4 MVAC), which outscored Waterloo 21-3 in the second and fourth quarters.

Haylee Kachner led the Vikings (3-4 MVAC) with six points.

¯ McDONALD 60, LOWELLVILLE 32: McDONALD — The Blue Devils built up a comfortable lead at halftime but kept their feet on the gas in a big win over Lowellville.

McDonald led 37-21, but outscored the Rockets 15-4 in the third quarter to continue to pull away.

Molly Howard led the Blue Devils with 20 points and Sophia Constantino had 16. Brooke Lewis added 10 points.

Samantha Moore led Lowellville with 13 points.
