East girls slip past Ursuline

¯ EAST 56, URSULINE 54: YOUNGS-TOWN — Delana Brown scored 18 points and the Golden Bears rallied to beat the host Irish. East led 27-21 at halftime, but Ursuline took a 37-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

Brianna Thompson added 16 points and Samir Colon scored 14 for East, which improved to 6-4 overall and 1-3 in the Steel Valley Conference.

Cara McNally supplied 18 points to pace the Irish (4-8, 1-2), while Rachel Fabry added 14 points and Paris Gilmore scored 13.

¯ ERIE McDOWELL 39, FITCH 36: AUSTINTOWN — The Falcons broke a 16-16 halftime tie to take a 26-23 lead heading into the final quarter, but were outscored in that decisive frame, 16-10. Ashley Mickey led Fitch with 11 points and Mya McNevin scored eight.

¯ AKRON BUCHTEL 53, CANFIELD 46: CANFIELD — Canfield let a fourth-quarter lead slip away in a non-league contest with the Griffins.

Grace Mangapora of Canfield (9-2) scored a game-high 21 points, but she was held to two points in the fourth quarter.

¯ CRESTVIEW 40, CARDINAL MOONEY 33: YOUNGSTOWN — Crestview built a big first-half lead and held off the Cardinals down the stretch of a non-conference clash.

The Rebels (7-4) took a 22-13 lead at the half and put the game out of reach with a 10-5 advantage in the third quarter. They were led by a balanced attack that saw seven players score, led by Krista Perry’s 13 points.

¯ POLAND 64, HUBBARD 24: POLAND — Jackie Grisdale scored 21 points, and Poland cruised to a Northeast-8 Conference victory over the Eagles.

While Grisdale was the only player to score in double figures for the Bulldogs (8-2), she was one of 12 players to score for Poland, which led 36-13 at halftime.

Jackie Adler and Madison Casey led the Eagles with eight points apiece.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 47, GIRARD 40: GIRARD — The Raiders used a 17-10 final quarter after the game was tied at 30-30 after three quarters to post the Northeast-8 Conference victory.

South Range (9-4, 5-1 NE-8) had great balance, getting 14 points from Lexi Giles, 12 from Gabby Lamparty, 10 from Izzy Lamparty and nine from Bree Kohler.

Girard was paced by Lindsay Cave with 12 points. Emily Fitzgerald scored nine and Sieasia Triplett added eight.

¯ WESTERN RESERVE 66, WATERLOO 41: BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve used a dominating first half to roll past the Vikings in a MVAC battle.

Alyssa Serensky paced the Blue Devils (10-1, 6-0) with 19 points, and Danielle Vuletich added 14 as they took a 38-17 halftime lead. Vuletich also added a team-best nine rebounds, while Kennedy Miller dished out 11 assists.

¯ McDONALD 69, SEBRING 31: McDONALD — The Blue Devils jumped out to a 28-4 lead after just one quarter and cruised to the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference win. The hosts led 47-11 at halftime.

Molly Howard led a balanced attack with 15 points. Maddy Howard added 13, Brooke Lewis had 11 and Sophia Costantino 10.

¯ JACKSON-MILTON 48, LOWELLVILLE 45: LOWELLVILLE — Jackson-Milton outscored the Rockets, 17-9, for a come-from-behind victory in a Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference matchup. Lowellville led throughout, including holding a 36-31 lead entering the final quarter, but the Blue Jays rallied to improve to 5-3.

Abby Spalding led the Blue Jays with 13 points. Courtney Mercer added 12. Samantha Moored of Lowellville (3-7) scored a gam-high 18 points and led the Rockets with seven rebounds.

¯ COLUMBIANA 39, EAST PALESTINE 32: COLUMBIANA — Grace Hammond poured in 18 points and Tori Long added eight, as host Columbiana downed the Bulldogs.

Morgan Rutledge scored 12 points for the visitors.

¯ LEETONIA 45, SOUTHERN 23: LEETONIA — Haleigh Brock scored 12 points and Taran Ferry added 11 and host Leetonia used a 19-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter to pull away to a 27-6 lead and roll to victory.

Leetonia moved to 5-5 overall.
