East, Boardman, Mooney post wins

¯ EAST 52, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 17: YOUNGSTOWN — The Golden Bears only led by three after the first quarter, but shut the Valley Christian offense down as the game went on to get a huge win over the Eagles.

In the final three quarters, East held Valley Chrisitan to 10 points while scoring 42 of their own.

Leading on the scoreboard was Delena Brown who scored 15 points. Brianna Thompson scored eight points and brought down seven of the team’s 37 rebounds.

¯ BOARDMAN 49, MASSILLON 28: MASSILLON — The Spartans held Massillon to 13 points in the second half to get a big road win over the Tigers.

Boardman went into the half with a 30-15 lead and despite a lull in the third quarter, continued pounding, scoring 19 more points in the second half.

Raegan Burkey led the team with 19 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Maria Torres was a big part of the Spartans defense, bringing down nine rebounds.

Boardman wasn’t afraid to spread the ball around as 10 different players registered points for the Spartans.

Boardman moves to 3-9 on the year.

¯ CARDINAL MOONEY 59, CHANEY 27: YOUNGSTOWN — The Cardinals move to 4-0 in the Steel Valley Conference after a big win over Chaney.

Cardinal Mooney got out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter and kept on the gas, keeping its scoring in the double-figures until the fourth quarter where they scored eight.

Catie Perry led the team with 16 points and Maria Fire followed close behind with 15.

Atanasia Crockett led Chaney with 12 points and Cazhia Jackson had 10.

¯ WEST BRANCH 80, ALLIANCE 18: BELOIT — Four Warriors scored in double digits despite clearing the bench early, as the hosts improved to 10-2 overal and 6-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

Anna Lippiatt scored 16 points, Peyton lazaus scored 13 and Hannah Ridgway and Jillian Pidgeon both scored 10 for West Branch, which led 29-5 after one quarter and 51-8 at halftime. Alliance fell to 1-10 and 0-5.

¯ CRESTVIEW 60, CAMPBELL 22: COLUMBIANA — Addison Bandy supplied 20 points, six rebounds and three steals and Krista Perry added 11 points, six rebounds and four assists as he host Rebels rolled.

Crestview, which improved to 9-4 overall and 2-3 in the All-Americn Conference-Blue Tier, led 27-2 at halftime.

The Red Devils dipped to 3-7 overall and remained winless in four league contests. India Armour-Clark scored 16 points for Campbell.

¯ HOWLAND 51, FITCH 37: HOWLAND — Coutney Clark had six of her 16 points in the third quarter to lead the Tigers past the Falcons in this All-American Conference, Red Tier game. She added nine rebounds, one short of a double-double.

Howland (7-5, 1-1 AAC Red) outscored Fitch (4-6) 16-9 in the third to pull away.

Alyssa Pompelia had eight of her 16 points in the fourth quarter — including two of her four 3-pointers — as the Tigers outscored the Falcons 16-12.

Ashley Mickey paced Fitch with nine points.
