Boardman, S. Range, VC notch wins

¯ BOARDMAN 63, EAST 50: BOARDMAN — The host Spartans continued to roll, using a 32-17 scoring advantage in the middle quarters to down the Golden Bears in a non-league contest and improve 12-1.

Derrick Anderson scored 21 points, Tommy Fryda scored 11 and Ethan Anderson continued nine for Boardman.

Johnny Clay netted 19 points and Ramere Bledsoe supplied 12 for the Golden Bears, who fell to 3-12. Raymond Hammond added eight points.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 65, LAKEVIEW 46: CORTLAND — The visiting Raiders took a while to heat up, but did so in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 41-21 after trailing 25-24 at intermission.

Chris Brooks scored 24 points, Dante Digaetano netted 12 and Kris Scandy had 11 on the strength of a trio of 3-pointers, as South Ranged improved its records to 9-5 overall and 4-4 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

Brendon Kilpatrick had 13 points for Lakeview, which led 19-14 after the first period. Nate Fox and Ryan Carnahan scored 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 7-9 overall and 4-4 in league play.

¯ VALLEY CHRISTIAN 86, ROOTSTOWN 78 (2OT): YOUNGSTOWN — Lohron Brown, Tyrone Lindsey and Sekov Stanley all scored in double digits as Valley Christian defeated host Rooststown in double-overtime in the Portage Trail Conference, County Division.

Brown netted 21 points, Lindsey scored 18 amd Stanley supplied 15, as Valley Christian improved its ledger to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

The score was 58-all heading into the first overtime and 69-all entering the second extra session.

¯ LOWELLVILLE 52, MINERAL RIDGE 45: MINERAL RIDGE — The visiting Raiders outscored the Rams 30-21 in the second half after Mineral Ridge led 24-22 at halftime.

Lowellville got 14 points from Anthony Lucente, 12 from Vinny Ballone and 11 from Johnny Michaels en route to improving its records to 7-8 overall and 2-7 in the MVAC.

The Rams were just 5-for-14 from the free-throw line and dropped to 8-7 overall and 5-5 in thre league. Austin Governor and Koby Zupko scored 12 points apiece and Miles Culp added 10.

¯ LIBERTY 69, BROOKFIELD 61: LIBERTY — The visiting Leopards closed the game on a 10-1 run to edge the Warriors in a All-American Conference Blue Tier contest.

A pair of free throws by James Davis gave Liberty a 61-60 lead and Manuel DuBose scored consecutive buckets to put Liberty ahead 65-60. O’Marion Dawson’s basket pushed the score to 67-60 before Brookfield’s Conner Stevens went 1-for-3 from the free-throw line. Dawson closed the scoring with another basket.

Dawson scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half and also grabbed 15 rebounds. Davis and Jameer Weaver both finished with 15 points for Liberty, which moved to 7-8 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

Stevens and Connor Filipovich both scored 13 points for Brookfield, which dipped to 9-8 and 2-6.

¯ ERIE CATHEDRAL PREP 73, URSULINE 57: ERIE, Pa. — The Irish fell behind the hosts 19-8 after one period, but were down just 31-19 at intermission before being outscored 29-12 in the third quarter to end any suspense.

Brady Shannon posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ursuline, which fell to 7-9 with the non-league setback. The Irish couldn’t contain Michael Lucarotti, who tallied 30 points for Erie Prep, which is 10-5.

¯ WELLSVILLE 87, EAST PALESTINE 71: EAST PALESTINE — The Bulldogs were outscored 29-14 in the second quarter and fel to 3-10 overall and 3-5 in the Easterrn Ohio Athletic Conference. Johnathan Bertovitch scored 30 points and Tyler Bistarkey added 25 for the hosts.

The Tigers scored 56 points in the middle quarters and improved to 5-3 in league play. They had 29 points from Darien Suggs.

¯ JEFFERSON 63, GIRARD 47: GIRARD — Grant Hitchcock had 17 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as the Falcons pulled past the Indians.

Koby Cunningham had 16 for Jefferson (3-5 Northeast-8), while Bobby Ray added 11.

Thomas Cardiero paced Girard (5-10, 4-4) with 15 points, while Christian Graziano added 13.

¯ SEBRING 58, WESTERN RESERVE 39: SEBRING — Gabe Lanzer had 15 points to lead the Trojans past the Blue Devils, one of three double-figure scorers for Sebring.

Jake Hunter had 14 points and seven assists for the Trojans (11-4, 5-4 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference), while Carson Rouse added 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Noah Klasic paced Western Reserve (6-11, 2-7) with 12 points.

¯ HOWLAND 58, FITCH 52: HOWLAND — The Tigers made eight 3-pointers and pulled away in the fourth quarter for their first All-American Conference, Red Tier win of the season.

Cam Durig and Anthony Massucci combined for seven of the team’s triples and 35 points. Durig had a team-high 19 points for Howland (4-10, 1-4 AAC Red), while Massucci added 16.

Justin Jones added 11 points for the Tigers.

Howland outscored Fitch (7-7, 2-3) 15-10 in the fourth quarter.

Todd Simons had a game-high 27 points to pace the Falcons.

¯ CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC 70, CARDINAL MOONEY 43: YOUNGSTOWN — Seran and McAfee each had 17 points to pace the Crusaders past the Cardinals.

Knupp added 16 for Canton Central Catholic (6-8), while Milini added 14.

Mike Pelini added 19 points for Cardinal Mooney (7-7).

¯ HARDING 61, CANFIELD 51: CANFIELD — Tyriq Ivory had seven of his nine points in the second quarter as the Raiders outscored Cardinals 22-9 in that stanza.

D’Muntize Owens had a team-high 12 points for Harding (11-6, 4-1 All-American Conference, Red Tier), while Johnny Graham added 11.

Brayden Beck paced Canfield (8-7, 1-4) with 15 points, while Jake Kowal added 10.

¯ CHAMPION 51, CRESTVIEW 49: COLUMBIANA — Nick Stahlman had nine of his game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Golden Flashes pulled away from the Rebels.

Abe Bayus added 10 for Champion (8-7, 4-4 All-American Conference, Blue Division).

Drake Golden scored his 1,000th point in the third quarter and led Crestview (4-11, 2-6) with 14 points. Kirtland Miller added 11 for the Rebels.
