Howland

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Tigers are expecting to send two relays to the district meet as well as six individual swimmers. Jared Mindek is expected to return to the state meet as well.

Hubbard

¯ POSTSEASON: Division II, Akron District

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Eagles look to send two relays to the district meet as well as four individuals. If all goes well, Dom Panozzo will qualify for the state meet, giving Hubbard its first qualifier since 2013.

BOWLING

Niles (Boys)

¯ COACH: Kevin Zook

¯ LEAGUE: Northeast-8

¯ POSTSEASON: Division I, Oakwood District

¯ RETURNING LETTERMEN (-letters earned): Nathan Zook (Sr.), Chris Donahue (Sr.), Adam McGinnis (Sr.), Jacob Kozak (Sr.)

¯ OTHERS EXPECTED TO CONTRIBUTE: Bret Peden (Sr.), Zack Wilson (Sr.), Chris Bonacci (Jr.)

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: Nathan Zook qualified to districts last year as an individual and hopes to return this season along with the whole team. Zook and Adam McGinnis are both throwing the ball great. Eight of the 15 members of the team are seniors and are eager to have a successful season.

Niles (Girls)

¯ COACH: Jackie Zook

¯ LEAGUE: Northeast-8

¯ POSTSEASON: Division I, Oakwood District

¯ RETURNING LETTERMEN (-letters earned): Isabelle Lincoln (Sr.), Sophia Bruno (Sr.), Shyana Beers (Sr.), Sydney Schlabs (Jr.), Elyssa Zack (Jr.), Catelyn Cowger (Sr.)*

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The six returning letterwinners have only gotten stronger since last season. In addition, six out of the 13 members of the team are seniors.

Girard (Boys)

¯ COACH: Pete Barta (5th year, 44-16)

¯ LAST YEAR: 10-2

¯ LEAGUE: Northeast-8

¯ POSTSEASON: Division II, Boardman District

¯ RETURNING LETTERMEN (-letters earned): Jonathan Moore (Sr.), Brett Ziegler (Sr.), Nathan Moore (Sr.)*

¯ OTHERS EXPECTED TO CONTRIBUTE: Anthony Moore, Robert Jackson, Thomas Mohn, Josh Shepard, Sam Volpe, Xavier Amirsh, Jason Owens

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: Last year’s team was the number one seed in the state tournament. They look forward to working hard to give themselves a chance to win the conference and make it to the state tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

Girard (Girls)

¯ COACH: Pete Barta (5th year, 48-10 record)

¯ LAST YEAR: 12-0

¯ LEAGUE: Northeast-8

¯ POSTSEASON: Division II, Boardman District

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: Last year’s team went undefeated and won the Northeast-8. They look forward to working hard to give themselves a chance to make it to the state tournament and fight to bring home a state title.

Liberty (Boys)

¯ COACH: Mike Mikulich (7th year)

¯ LEAGUE: All-American Conference Blue Tier

¯ POSTSEASON: Division II, Boardman District

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: With all returning members from last year and the new athletes that joing the team, the Liberty coaches have plenty of talent to choose from. They expect the season to be promising.

Liberty (Girls)

¯ COACH: Mackenzie Olesky (2nd year, 6-10)

¯ LAST YEAR: 6-10

¯ LEAGUE: All-American Conference Blue Tier

¯ POSTSEASON: Division II, Boardman District

¯ SEASON OUTLOOK: The Leopards expect to have a promising season returning all but one of their bowlers from last season. They look forward to the upward progress of the program and are excited for the year to start.
