Valley Christian, WR earn victories

¯ VALLEY CHRISTIAN 72, LISBON 60: YOUNGSTOWN — A 37-point effort from Blayne Brownfield wasn’t enough to push the Blue Devils past Valley Christian.

Rever led the Eagles with 26 points. Brown had 18 and Harris added 13.

¯ WESTERN RESERVE 55, CAMPBELL 39: CAMPBELL — Blue beats red as Western Reserve opened the year with a victory over Campbell.

Ryan Gordon and Noah Klasic each led the Blue Devils with 13 points. Todd Henning added eight. Gordon drained two 3-pointers and shot 50 percent from the free throw line.

Leading the Red Devils was Ke. Moore who had 15 points.

¯ WEST BRANCH 54, AUSTINTOWN FITCH 48: BELOIT — The West Branch defense proved to be the difference maker as the Warriors held Austintown Fitch to five points in the third quarter and came out with a six-point win.

Nick Everett led West Branch with 18 points. Reese Leone and Nick Pidgeon followed close behind with 14 and 13 respectively.

Todd Simons led the Falcons with 21 points.

¯ NEWTON FALLS 66, RAVENNA 44: NEWTON FALLS — The Tigers welcomed Ravenna to open their season and sent the Ravens packing with a 22-point loss.

Joey Kline tallied 24 points and took 22 shots from the charity stripe. Adam Honeycutt drained five 3-pointers and finished with 20 points.

Newton Falls had a dominant second quarter outscoring Ravenna 21-10.
