AKRON — Canfield junior Anna Kan earned a No. 2 seed for next weekend’s girls state tennis tournament in Mason.

Kan won a Division I Akron District semifinal match against Rocky River’s Samantha Robertson, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, on Saturday, then lost in the final to North Canton Hoover’s Laurel Utterback, 6-2, 6-0.

This is the second straight year Kan has advanced to state.

Boardman sophomore Ava Valko lost to Magnifcat’s Audrey Smitek in a state-qualifying match, 6-3, 6-0.
