Lowellville 13, Garfield 12 — The shootout came down to the final half inning and Lowellville’s Geno Perry provided the heroics with a walk off single to give the Rockets the win over the G-Men. The Lowellville offense was sparked by Perry with two doubles, the walk off single and three RBIs, Zak Sargent had three singles and two RBIs, Liam Bartlett doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs, Anthony Tuscano doubled and Anthony Kacir drove in two runs. Sargent is credited as the winning pitcher, tossing an inning of relief while striking out one, walking no one and allowing a hit. For Garfield, Bogucki doubled and singled twice, Bacskowski doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs, Hill doubled, singled twice and had three RBIs, Warnick and Neikirk both singled twice and drove in two while Lutz doubled. Neikirk was also given the loss in 3 2/3 innings, striking out five, walking two and allowing five hits.
GlenOak 10, Fitch 0 (5 inn.) — Thanks to a dominant pitching performance, the Golden Eagles shutout the Falcons to claim the win. Mason Olbon tossed a complete-game two-hitter, fanning and walking three. At the dish, Quincy Mazeke doubled and singled while Olbon and Connon Zets both drove in two runs. Zac Zabosky was given the loss in four innings, striking out four, walking five and allowing three hits.
Cardinal Mooney 13, Warren JFK 6 — Thanks to six runs in the third and five an inning later, the Cardinals toppled the Eagles. Pacing the 13-hit Mooney offense was Kaden Reese with a pair of singles, Andrew Bushey drove in two runs, Trent Litman doubled, singled twice and drove in five runs, Aidan Radinsky had a pair of singles and RBIs and Sam Owens doubled and singled. Tyler Wilson earned the win in four innings, striking out three, walking two and scattering six hits. In the loss, Snyder doubled and singled, Rinck singled twice, Carfongia doubled twice, Bolchalk doubled, singled and drove in three runs and Bartoe lent a double. Bartoe was also given the loss in 2 1/3 innings, striking out three, walking one and allowing four hits.
Howland 10, Streetsboro 4 — The 2-2 deadlock was blast open by the Tigers in the top of the third to lead to the win over the Rockets. Leading the way for Howland offensively was Terry Werner with a home run and three RBIs, Dominic Santee and Luca Fronzaglio both contributed two hits and Bode Biggin swiped three bases. Sully O’Donnell picked up the win in five innings, striking out three, walking two and allowing eight hits. Jadyn Dufala was given the loss for Streetsboro, striking out two, walking four and allowing four hits in 3 2/3 innings. At the plate for Streetsboro, Jayden Coffie and a pair of hits and four RBIs while Brett Epple and Scott Wilson both had a pair of hits.
Newton Falls 7, Mathews 5 — The Tigers took a commanding 6-run lead into the final frame but the Mustangs wouldn’t go down without a fight, plating four runs to attempt a comeback but to no avail. Pacing the victors at the plate was Ethan Powell with three singles while Trevor Ruscoe, Cameron Huff and Hunter Persin all doubled. Leland Vargo picked up the win for Newton Falls, fanning nine, walking three and allowing seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. Mathews statistics were incomplete.
Canfield 5, South Range 2 — The Cardinals added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the fourth to add to their one-run lead and held on to top the Raiders. Canfield tallied 11 hits in the contest and the offense was paced by Joey Gabriel with a trio of singles and two RBIs, David Murphy doubled and singled and Jake Dovich lent a double. Ryan Weibling picked up the win in five innings, striking out seven, walking one and scattering six hits. For South Range, Brenned Klasovsky singled twice and Drew Starkey legged out a triple. On the bump for the Raiders, Wilson Lower was given the loss in four innings, allowing nine hits and two walks while striking out none.
Orange 9, Bristol 5 — An early lead for the Lions proved too much for the Panthers to overcome, resulting in Orange claiming the 9-5 tilt. Heading the Lions at the plate was Goldman with a triple and single, Neal belted a home run and drove in four runs and Calhoun doubled. Jacops was given the win in 4 2/3 innings, striking out one, walking four and scattering four hits. For Bristol, Diesel Williams singled twice, Jack Berry doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Croc Thorp doubled. Williams was given the complete-game loss, striking out four, walking three and allowing seven hits.
Warren G. Harding 5, LaBrae 3 — The Raiders plated two runs to open the contest and added three insurance runs in the latter innings to hold on and topple the Vikings. The Harding offense exploded for 12 hits and was sparked by Khalef Freeman and Airiz Coleman Bey with a double and single each while Bryttain Fuller, Jacob Borsic and Elias Johnson each singled twice. Freeman also picked up the complete-game win, striking out five, walking one and allowing four hits. In the loss, Austin Rowe singled twice. Owen Boone was given the loss in five innings, fanning one, walking none and surrendering 10 hits.
SOFTBALL
Mathews 12, Poland 10 — It was a shootout claimed by the high-powered Mustangs over the Bulldogs. Mathews drilled 16 hits and was paced by Kennedy Newsom and Olivia Matheny with a pair of singles each, Maddy Hufford slapped four singles and three RBIs, Ava Shugart doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Ashia Pate doubled, singled and had three RBIs and Mia Delgarbino lent a double. Pate picked up the win in relief, fanning three, walking six and allowing a hit. In the loss offensively, Kylee Hudran and Leanna Boccieri both doubled. Madison Medvec was given the loss in three innings, striking out one, walking three and allowing 10 hits.
LaBrae 7, Crestview 5 (8 inn.) — The Vikings earned the extra-inning win over the Rebels thanks to a record breaking walk off home run from Riley Rowe. The three-run shot for Rowe gave her the single-season home run record for LaBrae. Lending in the win was Rowe with the home run, a double and single, Shelby Bragg tripled and singled, Vada Allen singled twice and drove in two runs and Morgan Thompson lent a pair of singles. Rowe was also given the win in relief, tossing six innings while striking out eight, walking one and allowing seven hits. In the loss, Brenna Figley and Chloe Stoops both doubled twice while Lainey Milhoan lent a double. Emma Snyder was given the loss in 7 2/3 innings, striking out seven, walking two and allowing nine hits.
Maplewood 5, Columbiana 0 — The Rockets shutout the Clippers Friday thanks to a 10-strikeout performance from Addison Marker. The hurler went the distance, allowing nine hits and walking none. At the plate for Maplewoof, Ava Calvert doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs while Lauran Krieg doubled. Addison Brode was given the loss in six innings, striking out seven, walking three and allowing six hits. Offensively in the los, Caitlynn Pleska and Cameron Perkins both singled twice and Ava Bell doubled.
