Champion 11, Newton Falls 0 (3 inn.) — A seven-run second inning was the exclamation point for the Golden Flashes in the win over the Tigers in game one of a doubleheader. Jonna Strock was perfect for Champion in the shortened outing, striking out six. At the plate, Taylor Rouan doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs, Ava Sylvester doubled, singled and had two RBIs, Adalyn McIntosh and Josie Perhach each singled twice and drove in two runs and Gabby Gradishar belted a home run. For Newton Falls in the circle, Addison Garro was given the loss, fanning three and walking two.
Champion 15, Newton Falls 0 (3 inn.) — In game two of a double header, the Golden Flashes opened the contest with 10 runs and it was smooth sailing from there to topple the Tigers. Adalyn McIntosh was nearly perfect in the shortened contest striking out seven with the only blemish being one free pass. The offensive onslaught was led by Gabby Gradishar with a grand slam and a single, Ava Sylvester doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs, maddie Sylvester had three singles, McIntosh helped her cause with a double and single and Taylor Rouan singled twice and drove in two runs. Kylee Lance was given the loss for Newton Falls, allowing 14 hits and five walks while striking out none.
Boardman 14, Poland 1 (5 inn.) — The Spartans piled on six runs in the opening frame and added eight more in the fourth to cruise to the win over the Bulldogs. The 14-hit Boardman offense was led by Alex Ward with a home run and three RBIs, Tori Strines and Ava Freeborough each singled twice and drove in two runs, Mikayla Rivera doubled and singled twice, Ellie Wymer singled twice and Jocelynn Torres tripled, singled and had three RBIs. Strines earned the win for Boardman with 4 2/3 innings, striking out seven while walking one and allowing two hits. For Poland in the circle, Lillian McDonald was given the loss in the start, fanning and walking none while allowing seven hits.
Chalker 11, Bristol 1 (5 inn.) — The Wildcats pummeled the Panthers thanks to a strong offensive showing. Leading that offensive surge was Riley Ashcraft with a pair of singles and RBIs, Tatum Hudak doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Gabby Hromada homered, doubled and drove in two runs, Abby Grimm tripled and Bailey Ann Bussey doubled. Hudak held the Bristol bats at bay, fanning 10 while walking one and surrendering three hits in five innings. In the loss, Cadence Imhoff singled twice for Bristol. Mycie Workman was given the loss in 4 1/3 innings, striking out three while allowing eight walks and scattering nine hits.
Badger 14, Lordstown 6 (5 inn.) — The Braves rattled off 17 hits to topple the Red Devils Wednesday. Everyone on the Badger roster who made a plate appearance recorded a hit. Kyleigh Hall doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs, Madison Lindus drove in three runs, Samantha Bradbury singled twice, Riley Thomas had a trio of singles, Reghan Broadwater lent a pair of singles, Autumn Yesko doubled, singled and had a pair of RBIs and Skylar Demarco doubled and singled. Bradbury was tagged with the win in 4 1/3 innings, striking out six, walking none and allowing three hits. Forester was given the loss for Lordstown in five innings, striking out three, walking one and allowing 17 hits.
Badger 9, Lordstown 3 (5 inn. continuance) — The Braves picked up the continuation game over the Red Devils. The shortened contest was comprised of Badger at the plate in the bottom of the fourth and Lordstown batting in the top of the fifth. Badger plated two runs in its turn at the dish while Lordstown was held scoreless. For the entire contest, the Braves were paced by Madison Lindus with a pair of RBIs, Reghan Broadwater belted a home run, singled and drove in two runs, Autumn Yesko singled twice and Skylar Demarco had a pair of singles and RBIs. Samantha Bradbury fanned 12 in the win for Badger, walking three and allowing two hits. In the circle for Lordstown, Forester struck out four, walked three and scattered nine hits in four innings.
Columbiana 17, Wellsville 1 (5 inn.) — The Clippers jumped ahead early and poured it on to throttle the Tigers. Columbiana posted 20 hits in the contest and was led by Maryn Hepler with a home run, two triples and a single, Caitlynn Pleska doubled twice, singled twice and drove in four runs, Addison Brode belted a home run, doubled, singled and drove in four runs, Cameron Perkins doubled, singled and tallied four RBIs, Alivia Bell doubled and singled, Anna Yonker singled twice and Ella Dota lent a double. Peyton Stoy earned the two-hit complete-game win, striking out four while walking one. Madelyn Landess was given the loss in four innings, striking out four, walking none and surrendering 20 hits.
Lakeview 6, South Range 5 (8 inn.) — The Bulldogs walked off the Raiders after relinquishing the lead in the latter innings. Both teams recorded double-digit hits with Lakeview’s 14-hit offense being led by Kalyssa Werner with a double and three singles, Kennedy Bartlett singled twice, Mackenzie Stowe belted a home run and singled, Hallie Capan notched a pair of singles and RBIs and Rylee Barnot added a pair of singles. Isabella Isenberg picked up the complete-game win, striking out three while allowing 10 hits and a walk. In the loss, Brogan and Bartels both doubled and singled twice and Wilt left the yard and drove in two runs. Rupert was given the loss in relief, tossing the final four innings in which she fanned four, walked none and allowed seven hits.
Mineral Ridge 11, Campbell 9 — The Rams swatted 14 hits to claim the high-scoring affair over the Red Devils. The offensive outpouring was paced by Lily Merolillo with a home run and another hit, Savannah Turek belted a solo shot and added another base knock, Maddie Gerberry blasted a three-run home run and another hit while Kelcee Dye, Megan Haynie and Sydney Wyllie each rapped two hits. Merolillo picked up the win in five innings, allowing three hits while striking out four.
Struthers 11, Niles 1 — The Wildcats pummeled the Red Dragons thanks to a strong offensive showing. Leading the way for Struthers at the plate was Riley Guy with a pair of hits, Samantha Minno doubled and singled twice, Vivian Marker belted a home run and drove in three runs while Katie Morris and Clare Coppola each doubled. In the circle, Katie Morris earned the win, allowing two hits while fanning six.
Girard 9, LaBrae 6 — The Indians fell behind early but roared back with the exclamation mark coming via five runs in the third inning to climb atop the Vikings and earn the win. Brooklyn Broll earned the complete-game win, allowing nine hits and one walk while fanning four. At the dish for Girard, Quinn Wilster and Broll each singled twice while Gianna Saxon doubled. Vada Allen was given the loss in 2 2/3 innings, striking out two while allowing five hits and no walks. Offensively, Shelby Bragg singled twice, Riley Rowe belted a home run and had two RBIs and Madison Johnson had a trio of singles.
BASEBALL
Maplewood 10, Chaney 4 — Three Maplewood batters accounted for nearly all of the Rockets’ offensive output in the win over the Cowboys. Kenyan Clover and Tyson Webster each drilled three hits and Zach Suba added two more in the win. Suba was also the winning pitcher for Maplewood, throwing four innings while walking three and striking out eight. For Chaney, Moon was given the loss in five innings, striking out two and walking three.
Warren JFK 6, Crestview 1 — Two runs in the opening inning would have been enough but the Eagles added some insurance runs to top the Rebels Wednesday. Calming the Crestview sticks was Bolchalk who struck out 11 while surrendering three hits and walking none in the complete game win. At the plate for Kennedy, Snyder singled twice, lapolla had two triples and drove in three runs and Bartoe doubled and singled. For Crestview, Devine was given the loss in four innings, striking out one, walking three and scattering five hits. Offensively for the Rebels, Unkefer had two singles.
Poland 10, Niles 0 (6 inn.) — Owen Mckenzie hurled a one-hit shutout gem as the Bulldogs’ offense complimented the outing to topple the Red Dragons. Mckenzie struck out 11 while walking two in the win. The potent Poland offense was charged by Jacob Hayes with two RBIs, Tyson Tarajack doubled twice and drove in two runs, Joe Zuccaro doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs and Dylan Kelty singled twice. Brady Court was given the loss in four innings, striking out three while walking five and allowing three hits.
Fitch 6, Howland 2 — The Falcons opened the game with a pair of runs and added four insurance runs in the fourth inning to topple the Tigers. Fitch rapped 11 hits and were led by Frank Senediak with three singles, Jackson Cheeks singled twice and drove in three runs, Nate McGagahan added a pair of singles and Carter Owens doubled. Owens also earned the win in 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven, walking four and surrendering seven hits. Offensively for Howland, Dominic Santee singled twice and Brayden Kovarik doubled and singled. Sully O’Donnell was given the loss in 3 1/3 innings, striking out three, walking five and allowing six hits.
Badger 4, Lordstown 1 — It was a pitching-dominant game as both teams were stymied at the plate with the Braves earning the win over the Red Devils. Four different Braves singled while Lewis Flowers picked up the win in four innings, striking out seven while walking one and allowing two hits. Volpine was given the complete-game loss, striking out 15 while walking seven and allowing four hits.
Newton Falls 2, Champion 1 — It was a close one, but the Tigers edged out the Golden Flashes by a lone run in Wednesday’s contest. Both team’s starters tossed complete games, but Cameron Huff earned the win, striking out 12 while allowing a pair of hits and walks. At the plate, Huff helped his cause with a double and two singles while six others recorded a base hit. Dylan Howell was given the loss, striking out six while walking one and allowing nine hits.
St. John 4, Bristol 0 — The Heralds plated two runs in the top of the second frame and that would have been enough to topple the Panthers. Bristol slapped 10 hits but still came up short as the St. John offense was paced by Ryan Williams with a double and a single while Dyln Newsome and Chase Newsome each singled twice. Brady Cole picked up the win in three innings, allowing six hits, fanning two and allowing one walk. In the loss, Croc Thorp and Jonas Miller each singled twice while Keifer Swager doubled and singled. Diesel Williams was given the loss, walking two, allowing four hits and striking out one in four innings.

Boardman 20, Cardinal Mooney 10 — The Spartans started the contest hot, scoring six goals in the opening quarter followed by seven in the next. Boardman took a commanding lead into intermission and cruised to the win over the Cardinals. Leading the scoring onslaught was Tony Pinciaro with a hat trick and an assist, Emerson Hare found the back of the net five times and lent an assist, Ashton Hoover tallied six goals and four assists while Luke DeJoesph and Bryan Shaw each had a goal and assist. In goal, Hunter Richards recorded eight saves.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Howland 3, Akron Hoban 1 — After falling in the first set (21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16), the Tigers toppled the Knights. Leading the way for Howland was Wesley Fee with 16 kills, nine digs and two aces, Alex Slater lent 19 assists, Nicholas Caesar had 10 points and five blocks and Freddie Rivera recorded six digs and eight points while Philip Rullo tallied eight kills.
