VC falls to Southern

SALINEVILLE – The Southern Eagles may not have been carrying a winning record entering Friday night’s home contest against Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference leader Valley Christian, however, that certainly did not deter them from giving the Eagles everything could handle and more in a 31-14 victory.

The Indians improve to 4-4 overall on the year with the victory, and 4-1 in the league. It marks the first time in the series that a home team has won.

Indians quarterback Timmy Potts would rush for 112 yards and score three times to propel the offense. Running back Landen Heffner added 91 yards and one touchdown.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 6-2 on the season and 4-1 in the EOAC. They only ran 9 offensive plays in the first half of the contest and held the ball for only 4:25 of the 24 minute half.

The Indians will look to keep their momentum rolling next week when they travel to Lisbon on Friday night. The Eagles will look to bounce back as they host United on Saturday in a battle for first place in the EOAC.

Starting at $3.23/week.
