Residents escape Austintown house fire

AUSTINTOWN — Two people and their pets were able to escape a Sunday morning house fire in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

Austintown fire crews were called 6:40 a.m. to a house fire with reports of two people trapped inside. Neighbors living nearby called after seeing the house on fire.

When fire crews arrived , the residents and three dogs were able to get out of the house.

Fire officials told Tribune News partner WKBN-27 the fire started at the back of the home and ran up the siding, catching the roof on fire. Some minor damage was done to the siding of a neighbor’s house.

The Canfield Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
