Sound off! March 7-8

To the writer from Poland who wrote about the economic gain from the income tax refund I have a question. What has President Trump did that is against the Constitution? And what democratic norms are you talking about ? The things Joe Biden did like tapping people’s phone? I wrote the letter to highlight the Democrats hypocrisy. If you think President Trump does everything wrong, then the extra refund should be wrong in your eyes. Again, you’re a hypocrite if you keep the extra refund! — Hubbard In today’s Vindicator I read where our illustrious congressman Rulli wants to ...

Ignore your standing, seek accountability

DEAR EDITOR: It’s time! The current administration’s chief executive has a history of making promises and false accusations, often titled minor false statements or a mere misquote. But there have been far too many of those, which, due to the falsehoods, have and can create a dire situation for our economy and our nation. The following echoed in the recent State of the Union speech: Inflation: The chief executive pointed out that the past administration gave us the “Highest Inflation Rate” in the history of the United States. Under his administration, inflation has ...

The price of perfect nihilism

When President Donald Trump first announced that he had ordered the Pentagon to attack fishing boats and speedboats on the high seas which he said carried dangerous drugs destined for willing buyers in the United States, many of us who monitor the government for its indifference to the Constitution perceived it as truly criminal and utterly scandalous. The military commits murder when it intentionally kills a civilian non-combatant who poses no immediate threat to the U.S. or to military personnel. The crime is committed by all personnel in the chain of command who knowingly ...

Remembering the work of Ted Frazzini

DEAR EDITOR: It was with great sadness that I read the obituary of Ted Frazzini. Ted was the driving force in initiating girls softball in Canfield. Back in 1978, Ted was successful in receiving permission from the Canfield Baseball Club at McCune Park in Canfield to start a 12-U girls softball program. From the first year with six teams, the program grew to hosting a 32-team invitational tournament at the end of each summer. His time, dedication and knowledge was instrumental in the growth of girls softball and very much appreciated. KEN BRAYER Boardman

A message from the Twitterer in Chief

DEAR EDITOR: In the dead of night last Friday, the Twitterer in Chief via his own pathetically misnamed internet platform (Truth Social), announced he was attacking Iran. Timing of the announcement provided him leeway to avoid questions why, other than providing distraction from his domestic failures, he acted without congressional advice and consent required by our Constitution. No one doubts Iran’s fanatical theocrats have repressed their own people while fomenting state sponsored terrorism around the world. Trump may have cut the heads off this Hydra, but he has no idea what ...

America engaging in wars of choice

DEAR EDITOR: As the “king of peace” contemplates war on Iran, Cuba, Colombia and who knows where else, he may want to consider hard-learned lessons from past wars; despite an unpopular government, a nation’s citizens will unite furiously against foreign troops on their soil. The bravery of the Ukrainians is a perfect example, and it shames us for having abandoned them. The United States failed to appreciate the history and will of the Vietnamese people when it sought to save them from communism. All of our high-tech weapons could not overcome their desire for independence. ...
