We must cherish and protect Mill Creek Park

DEAR EDITOR: Mill Creek Park is a treasure that Volney Rodgers gave to Mahoning County residents. It is a treasure so exquisite that we will never be able to replace it. It is a jewel that I enjoyed, you are enjoying, our grandparents enjoyed. It was like walking into heaven, with the friendly deer, the little animals, the greenery that encapsulates our hearts. No one but God could have created our Green Gem and we can never get it back again. We must respect it, protect it, cherish it, and let no man put it under for the greed of money. DEAR EDITOR: Our Republican state legislators Al Cutrona and Tex Fischer proudly attended a recent White House State Leadership Conference, oxymoronic considering the Trump administration only has use for obedience. Promises made and promises questioned

DEAR EDITOR: Without taking a political stance, allow me simply to note: When the current president was running for election, he made promises, as many candidates do, but his promises were more of a pledge, sort of a guarantee. Such guarantees won him the election. A memory of the tragic loss of 3-year-old boy by gunfire

DEAR EDITOR: I opened up the Aug. 20 Vindicator and saw a photo of a beautiful, smiling 3-year-old boy. It was his obituary. My memory of the last time I saw him was when he lay dying on the asphalt of a South Side parking lot. He was lying motionless, eyes wide open, and his father was inconsolably wailing beside him. Most of you know by now the story of what happened. The boy got hold of his father’s gun and shot himself. I have been trying to reach Gov. Mike DeWine’s office to express my opinion on critical issues. No matter the time of day or night, calls are routed to a voicemail system with a full mailbox. Still awaiting a fix for gerrymandering

DEAR EDITOR: I had to laugh at a recent article that said both political parties will try to use gerrymandering to control the state of Ohio. Former Gov. John Kasich had a meeting closed to the Democratic Party behind closed doors to ensure a Republican majority. Many years ago, the Ohio State Supreme Court ruled the district had to be corrected.
