Kudos to Boulevard Park Block Watch

DEAR EDITOR: I want to give a huge shout-out to the Boulevard Park Block Watch on the South Side of Youngstown. This group has been instrumental in transforming an empty lot into a beautiful pocket park, complete with swings, picnic tables, and a blueberry patch for the neighborhood. The new park is called Peace Park, and its atmosphere is just like its name — peaceful. This past week, the group hosted a neighborhood picnic featuring food, games, and prizes. There is a mobster in the White House

DEAR EDITOR: Say you owned a family restaurant. One day a mobster comes in and says, “It’d be a shame if your restaurant burned down one night. I can protect your investment for $500 a month, payable to me.” Trump is doing that right now by filing frivolous lawsuits for billions of dollars against CBS, ABC and the Wall Street Journal. He has no chance of winning but because he’s president these huge companies pay him $10 million or more to settle. The money goes to him personally, not the U.S. government. DEAR EDITOR: I am a proud Poland resident and a proud Mahoning County voter!! I presently serve on several community boards and these experiences allow me, I believe, to have a pulse of our community. I would like to address the possible closing of the Poland Library. DEAR EDITOR: By now, so many residents from the Mahoning Valley have heard the cries from the citizens’ group that has taken on the task of saving our Poland Library. Ohio voters are set to be silenced

DEAR EDITOR: In the early 1990s, Ohio was allotted 21 U.S. congressional seats and with the decline in population, Ohio now has 15 seats. The current congressional district map has 10 Republican and five Democrat seats. Democrats are proposing an 8-7 map. In my opinion, Republicans are shooting for a 13-2 map in the final stage of the process. Ohio’s redistricting rules, established by constitutional amendments in 2015 and 2018, govern the redrawing of state legislative and U.S. congressional districts.
