Ignore your standing, seek accountability
DEAR EDITOR:
It’s time!
The current administration’s chief executive has a history of making promises and false accusations, often titled minor false statements or a mere misquote.
But there have been far too many of those, which, due to the falsehoods, have and can create a dire situation for our economy and our nation.
The following echoed in the recent State of the Union speech:
Inflation: The chief executive pointed out that the past administration gave us the “Highest Inflation Rate” in the history of the United States. Under his administration, inflation has reached its lowest level in more than five years.
The truth: The inflation rate, usually reported on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, not on a three-month basis, is 2.4%. Yes, lower during the “COVID Rise”, but remaining high. Under the Obama administration, it was 1.4%. The “highest rate” was not during the past administration, but in 1980, at 14%, during the OPEC Oil shock period.
Balance Budget Overnight: The national debt, always a hot topic. So, when stated that due to the identified Minnesota Somalia “fraud,” quoted at $19 billion, rectifying that problem will “balance the budget” overnight, the applause began.
The Truth: The total fraud was reported as $9 Billion, not $19 Billion, a concern once proven, but applying my early teaching, I believe the amount stated is a little over double the actual reported amount, possibly another “simple misquote”? As for the “overnight” budgeting?
Current national debt is over $38.79 — ready for this — “trillion”! Once again, using your middle school teaching, rectifying the $9 Billion, or if you wish, $19 Billion in fraud, well, do the math. No balanced budget overnight.
Jobs Claim: Touted, more Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country. Any time in history! Now that’s something to brag about.
The Truth: As often, very misleading. Since the U.S. population increases every year, any president can tout that claim; the more accurate measure of the job rate is based on the unemployment rate, currently at 4.3%, an “increase” since the past administration.
Allowed text in this format does not allow me to continue with the many misquotes and misleading statements made.
No matter where you stand politically, as a nation we need to hold our elected officials to the truth, essential in maintaining a functioning democracy, decisions made on reality, rather than deception.
Before you quickly go to the comparison argument, pointing out other elected officials’ lies, misleading quotes, it’s time we take the position, “enough is enough.”
God Bless America.
