‘Useful idiots’ aid in the demise of America
DEAR EDITOR:
Watched, “The Fall of the Roman Empire,” during a recent winter night. Collapse didn’t come from outside, but was due to corruption from within. When I consider how our Constitution has been redefined, manipulatively reinterpreted, and totally corrupted, even to the point that many in our government want to give it up and establish a, “living Constitution,” that evolves with the times, science, and modernity, I despair.
Our Constitution is the nearest thing to perfection of government that has ever existed, but is all but totally ignored in our public education system today, overseen by the federal Department of Education. No longer do we see civics classes emphasized anywhere in K-12, nor taught on the unique importance of our original intent meaning of our Founding Fathers when they wrote it.
Americans have been deliberately, “dumbed down,” for decades, potentially to prepare America for a transition to socialism, and eventual full communism. Liberalism, socialism, progressivism, are all considered, “fellow travelers,” on the road to full communism, but today’s Democrats will deny that they seek that end. Marxism considers them, “useful idiots.” You have no idea what you are asking for. Winston Churchill said, “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” — House of Commons, 22 October 1945. Yet, the United Kingdom has become almost fully socialist.
“On Jan. 6, 1816, Jefferson wrote Virginia legislator Charles Yancey that ‘if a nation expects to be ignorant and free … it expects what never was and never will be.’ Given the profound ignorance that we are seeing today, the stakes could not be higher for our country and our freedom.” This piece by Thomas Jipping originally appeared in The Washington Times, Dec, 11, 2023. James Madison wrote, “If Men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.”
There are no angels in Washington. Human nature does not change with the times. Our Constitution set guard rails for our representatives to govern within, but in many ways they have broken down or jumped those restraints for their own benefits. We the people can rectify this, but we must truly want to; electing people who will sign a binding contract to serve no more than two terms, since they will never enact term limits themselves. And we must demand they restore our Constitutional restraints.
