Answers to a few questions, please

DEAR EDITOR:

Are we witnessing deja vu all over again? George W. Bush and his minions’ grand plan to invade Iraq on false pretenses turned into a quagmire that cost our nation immense blood and treasure, unleashed ISIS and other extremists, and brought death and agony to millions. And some in the Bush administration seemed competent at the time.

Now we have the blowhard-in-chief, with his clown car of unqualified, mean-spirited boot lickers, spouting nonsense about “unconditional surrender.” We haven’t heard those words since WWII.

What will happen when not only Iran, but much of the Middle East becomes unstable? Ground forces will have to be deployed to preserve a semblance of order that will never come.

After we’ve stabbed our traditional allies in the back, there will be a severely diminished “coalition of the willing,” except for Israel, who sucked us into this mess, to help carry the load. Who knows how the other Arab nations will react? With us preoccupied, will China and Russia, and who knows who else, become emboldened to violate our standing national interests?

He who vowed an end to our involvement in “forever wars” could get us involved in a graver conflagration over a much wider area.

When will Trump’s supporters realize how he has severely diminished our international standing, engaged in a shakedown of the media, universities and law firms, flaunted judicial orders, thrust suffering upon otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants and pardoned convicted criminals, all while blatantly enriching himself? Just asking.
