DEAR EDITOR:

Locally and nationally, we are now being told with past and more recent events, “if you see something say something.” Excellent advice for keeping our streets and community safe if you are a good citizen. However in recent years the moniker has been”snitches get stitches.”

I have heard and witnessed this for myself at our local library where teens congregate after school. The police officer attending the grounds encountered a young girl who was being harassed and came to him stating the bad words that boys were throwing at her with expletives. The response from the police officer was,”snitches get stitches.” No intervention whatsoever. I walked away in disgust. So I’d like to ask the police department in Austintown, which is it?
