Strike by lightning could torch Mill Creek

DEAR EDITOR:

Another topic for concern regarding Mill Creek Park.

I brought this up at the beginning of summer. I have many pictures from others as well, showing the piled-up dead trees in our Mill Creek Park.

Global warming has started already, and believe me, it’s real. All of the fires everywhere are destroying everything, our forests, birds, deer, beaver, squirrels, every single animal, burning houses and people, it’s limitless.

At one of the metro meetings, I cornered Nick Derico and told him how I feel. I told him with all of the fallen, dead trees, laying on top of other dead trees, it is called “kindling.” Kindling gets a damn good fire going.

Picture all of Mill Creek Park on fire and I assure you, it will be so strong by the time it moves, all of the surrounding neighborhoods will be up in flame as well.

Nick just sat there, then smiled and said, “yeah, that could happen.” Not one word of how they would prevent it.

I believe they don’t really care, or they wouldn’t be allowing dead tree after dead tree to pile up on each other and turn into kindling wood. It’s almost as if they know and are just waiting for it to happen, in my opinion.

Some trees are supposed to sit on the forest floor for rejuvenation, but this is not what is meant. A landscaper should not be in charge of a park or forest.

There are a lot of warnings going out that are being ignored by this park committee. Open your eyes Mahoning County … before a strike by lightning happens and you’ll wish you would’ve …
