DEAR EDITOR:

The Vindicator told the truth.

Over the next 80 days or so; the TV and social media will be polluted with ads full of half-truths and sometimes outright lies, deceptions and embellishments.

Instead of watching this paid-for drivel and mudslinging, I ask you to read the newspaper, specifically an article written by Youngstown Vindicator columnist Bertram de Souza on March 19, 2019. Google archived Vindicator articles to find it.

Sherrod Brown has repeatedly said Bernie Moreno’s actions caused the closing of the GM Lordstown Assembly plant. In de Souza’s article and another in the Detroit Free Press at the same time; Bernie Moreno and other successful auto giants offered to buy virtually EVERY Chevy Cruze produced for years to come … if they were made in Lordstown. They wanted to start a ride-sharing app called Cruze. GM declined to do what would have saved the plant. Want to know why President Trump bashed GM for the closing? I bet he knew this too! Sherrod Brown knows the truth as well.

Bernie Moreno put his money where his mouth was. A GM spokesman acknowledged it was true, but would not elaborate because GM and Moreno were bound under a nondisclosure contract still in effect today. Even more telling, Dave Green and the UAW know it’s true, he, too, was quoted in de Souza’s article.

While BOTH Green and Brown pay to tell you lies, they know that Moreno cannot legally defend himself with facts as he would be breaking a contract with consequences. Brown and Green believe you are too stupid or lazy to find the truth.

If you did the research on the “failure to pay overtime” ads Brown is running, you would find two lazy car salesmen and a retroactive law that ensnared hundreds of Massachusetts businesses. Any expensive car salesman who cannot earn commissions above minimum wage needs to find a job mowing yards. I sold expensive cars for nearly five years in Warren … not in Boston, I know.

Half-truths and bold-faced lies are the only things that Brown has to tell you about Moreno, all contrived and embellished. Brown would never acknowledge the true story of a LEGAL immigrant, self-made family man, and American success story with the honor to respect an agreement he signed long before he ran for U.S. Senate. Take a few minutes to learn about Bernie, I did.
