Education statistics tell the whole story

DEAR EDITOR:

This is in response to Curtis Eddie.

I am sure you make a decent living as an engineer, but not everyone is going to college to be one. Every year, 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States. That’s one student every 26 seconds at ages 16 to 18 and 40% is the dropout rate for college every year because of academic difficulties and mostly in math. These are the statistics. They are not getting it. They see no future. Add to this (poor) homelife, inflation, the shrinking of the middle class, the wealth gap, the housing crisis and despite working 40 hours, people are getting nowhere. Today’s banking has changed, and not for the better.

When I retired from the bank I worked for, it was bought twice by bigger banks and my pension was cut by two-thirds. You do the math; I did.
