Calling for candidates to answer pertinent questions

DEAR EDITOR:

The editorial on March 22 called on voters to be informed when they vote in November. Let’s make a deal!

The voters are tired of heavily-slanted name calling and worthless political ads, both on television and printed in the news media. We want and desperately need honest and open facts, with which to make our decisions. We can’t be everywhere to ask the questions to those candidates that are brave enough to face us. For starters, it can’t happen at an orchestrated political rally where soundbites rule the day.

As a public service, I would suggest the this newspaper initiate a monthly feature which would ask the pertinent questions appropriate for each vacant county, city and local position being considered this November.

I realize some candidates will choose not to answer your questions; but so be it. If they won’t answer your questions, it will only show they are not fit for public office; perhaps it will help weed out the non-performers. That way we won’t have to wait until the next election cycle to vote them out of office.
