Use your mind, do not follow others blindly

DEAR EDITOR:

I have been very curious wondering why Donald Trump chose to stump for J.D. Vance in Youngstown.

The Sept. 17 Vindicator had an AP headline: “Trump embraces, amplifies QAnon conspiracy ideas.” The report amplifies increased prominence Trump has placed in the QAnon conspiracies, which ultimately elevate him to a Messiah status, seen as a savior.

I do not think it’s a coincidence that Trump picked Youngstown to stump for Vance. He understands this area is depressed, still looking for a “savior” to pull it out of its economic woes. Notwithstanding, Trump promising an economic resurgence, which culminated in the loss of thousands of jobs at the Lordstown-GM plant; he sees this area as ripe with gullible people willing to raise their arms in a “heil Hitler” salute, elevating him to savior status.

In comes Ken Burns with his newest PBS documentary, revealing history exactly as it happened in Hitler’s time and how Hitler methodically indoctrinated the German people and sympathizers all over the earth to label and hate people considered inferior. We know the outcome of his monstrous time on earth and the evil he ushered into people’s minds. Trump is implementing the same playbook.

As we approach midterms, let us keep this old adage uppermost in our minds: Check out your mind and use it, because if you don’t, someone else will.
